"‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’

Why dont the witnesses say this prayer, if verse nine says this is what Jesus said to do? I have never heard them say this prayer, ever!

    Matthew 6: 9 -13

They say it is just a model or example of things you can pray for. If you look a few verses before this one it does say not to repeat the same words over and over again. But, personally, I don't think it even matters anyway because the bible says our heavenly father knows what we need before we even ask him. So what difference does it make what words we use? I think the more important issue is do we believe God will answer our prayers? The WT will use anything to say they are RIGHT and everyone else's way of doing something is wrong. It is just another way to seperate themselves from other real Christians and the World in general.

Jesus said this prayer to his father, so it should be our model prayer and once in a while should be said by a Witness at the hall, but they don't, and I'm sure if a witness did pray these exact same words, he would be told not to do it again by the elders.....

Has anyone dared to pray these same words as Jesus used at a JW meeting?

JH, wouldnt that be absurd to be counseled NOT TO SAY THE LORDS PRAYER IN A GATHERING?????

Actually it is a beautiful prayer, and easily remembered in a pinch. Why not use it?

I think it should be used, but I already asked the elders this question, and they told me that Never should a JW pray these exact same words in public.

Because it would sound too much like those from Christendom saying their Our Fathers.

Because the borg likes to make up arbitrary doctrines that make no sense... because they claim they are god-inspired..IT is just another judgemental policy on their part to make them look like they have "special' interpretation of the Bible

Exactly Leolaia, they don't want to copy other religions using this prayer, and if you notice, Jesus didn't say Jehovah, but only our father.

But they seem to follow the scriptures they "want" to follow. Like, do not even "eat" with such a man, or woman in my case. Are they affraid my head may start spinning in circles and I may spew my dinner at them?
