AuldSoul,
That's excellent you were able to severe emotionally from the whole thing in a short space of time once you realised. You don't know how lucky you are to do it in such a short space of time.
For me, I just stopped going but their doom and gloom senarios stayed with me for nearly 20 years. Not that I ever wanted to have anything to do with them but still, armageddon played on my conscience for the best part of my life, imagine, a lie like that. When I think of that, it is understandable why they still have 6 million members including my sister.
So if I were to ask a JW who they pray to first what should they say according to the JW manual? I ask because on this board they have been accused of putting the FDS before Christ but I remember when they finished praying they always finished with, "through our Lord Jesus Christ". -

Ironically, if you add up the number of times that Jesus name is used by the JWs then you will likely come to the conclusion that it's used more in the "rubber stamp" at the end of the prayers than at any other time.
It's virtually meaningless as they are so busy trying to focus on the Father that they forget that the Father is alleged to have told them to listen to the Son (Matt.17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35; see also Joh.3:35; 5:22,23).
If I have to go through a "bouncer to get to a club" / "Passport Control to get into a country", I sure as heck better pay him more than just a cursory nod!

Spectrum,
I just saw this post. First, I was severed from the organized religion the same day, but still had (have) emotional ties to a LOT of the people. But I was able to get those in two separate camps inside, so the wires don't get crossed, if you know what I mean.
You are correct, they pray through Jesus or in his name, but they do not pray to him. Nor do they consult him for deeper understanding, even though he promised that HE would ask the Father to supply Holy Spirit for that purpose.
Along with the mediator thing, another complimentary doctrine of their's that I missed (apparently) was the King like Melchizedek that Hebrews 5 speaks of. I thought he was my King and High Priest the whole time. And it seemed reasonable to me that I would be able to pray to my King and High Priest, just as humans under Monarchy pray to their rulers for relief from and redress of grievances. If all authority has been given to him, what could I ask that only the Father could take care of? I prayed as was customary at the Kingdom Hall or before service to the Father, but in private I never held back from prayer to the Son.
There is a difference in prayer to the Son and prayer through the Son. They treat the Governing Body like the serfs and lower nobles treated the King. They treat Jesus like he is Jehovah's page boy: "You there, boy...run this (message/request) to your Father. There's a good lad!" They certainly appear to hold the Governing Body in higher esteem than Jesus.
Respectfully,

Have any of you noted on interveiws with people wuth near death experiences , they claim they saw the angel of light.
That is proof enough for me that Satan aka beelzebub does exist.

Why? Can you expand a bit more on what your proof is? I would really like to know what your thought process is.

still don't see where salvation is from being a member of the right group.
still don't see where I have to have the right friends or be in the right building to have a relationship with Jehovah.
