I'd be freaked out too......if I were travelling through Australia, I'd be armed with plenty of pepper spray.......you can get it on eBay for pretty cheap.

I have only been to Alice Springs, Sydney, Melbourne, Port Douglas and Cairns. You will love every part of Australia. It is one of the most beautiful countries I have every been too. I tried living there regularly but the Aussies kept kicking me out after my 6/8 month visa expired. I begged them to let me live there but they said Yankee NO - go home.

LOL - that's ridiculous Mary, tell me you're joking! - OK in the city ... maybe ... but the only thing pepper spray is good for in the bush is for spay'n on yer bbq chops.

    uncle forest dweller.

ps: hurting australian wildlife carries very stiff penalties jail even

Listen the bush is not frightening. Anyways there are signs every where you go in Port Douglas that say "warning, crock". Just be watchful. As for the spiders, sharks, jelly fish, things that go bump in the night, unless you plan on taking a stick and poking at ever shrub or strange object, you will be fine. I traveled from Cairns to Cape Tribulation and we went hiking and swimming and the only thing that was frightening was my lily white skin in a bathing suit.

Good to know, looking_glass, you know...for when I actually get to go to Australia. lol I want to see one of those bitty little octopi with the blue rings...don't want to touch it or anything, just look at it.

Doc, that's a great picture. Why do you think its crap? It does look like a hot, steamy day, though.

No, ya silly bugger----you spray a croc in the eyes with it, just before he tries taking a big chomp out of you!!!

Went to Darwin in 1996 on a convention bus tour ...don't remember much though, was too busy chasing boys ;) hehe...

Would like to go back though and do it properly. The sunset markets are ace though, I do remember that. Watch out for crocs though, they're everywhere! The harbour tour was nice, but kakadu was excellent...although a bit taxing if you're 6months preggers?? Just make sure you don't over-exert yourself too much babe. August is a great time to go though, not too rainy, and perfect temperature wise.

Enjoy babe, and post pics :) x
