...and if there's a park ranger watching you serve 5 years in a Darwin jail

Not if ya spray him in the eyeballs too and then run like hell........geeze.......do I have to think of everything???

Seriously though, you mean if a croc or a snake were about to attack you and you were defending yourself with some pepper spray, that they would throw you in jail??!! That's crazy!! Why aren't you allowed to defend yourself if need be??!!

Nah I was just pull'n ya legs mary ..'scuse the rough hands ..

We are pretty strict but not that bad. I'd be too busy escaping from a tiger snake to fuss around in my purse for pepper spray ..you can have a go if ya like but it might turn nasty lol. As Doc said you're unlikely to need anything like that. Most Australians have never seen a snake in the wild let alone been attacked by one. I haven't had much to do with crocs but I played with a few little ones in PNG.

    August 1973:

In the highland town of Goroka there was a low circular stone wall about 20' accross. Inside were a few rocks a skinny little tree and two crocs about 4' long. I was just 16 so I started mucking about .. jump the fence ... whack a croc on the tail and jump back out quicker than the croc could turn..gradually quite a crowd gathered and there were ooos and ahhhs as this was going on ... when the oooing and ahhhing got quite loud I said to my pioneer partner Hilari "how come they all think this is brave - you guys live with crocs?" Hilari said "It's not the croc it's the snake" ... "what snake?" .. with that he points to a big black snake that was slowly uncurling itself up in the little tree .."he is very bad .. he will jump on you" .. me thinks "sod this!" and departs much to the anoyance of the crowd.

Oh Jesus christ, I would've had a heart attack right then and there.......I'm absolutely terrified of snakes.........ya see, you really do need pepper spray Down Under!!

Awwww you wuss dontcha know that as a follower of Christ you can handle venomous snakes

NB to anyone going up north, please take the croc (salties) warning seriously and not go swimming in still water or approach the edge of water, especially where there is an establish clearing leading to the water as crocs are known to wait just under the surface in ambush for unsuspecting idiots.

Yeah, I will be taking the croc warning very seriously. Apparently, we will be seeing lots of them, or at least going through their territory. So what happens if we're fording a river (as we'll be doing a zillion times) and the car gets stuck in the mud. Can't get out I guess because of crocs, right?

Today we got our Ozzie Explorer map from the Govt. and installed it on our laptop. That will be used with the GPS receiver so we will have GPS at all times when we journey through the bush. Ozzie Explorer comes with a sat image as well, but it royally sucks compared to Google Earth. We compared the two with respect to Mount Surprise, and you can't even see the roads on the OzExplorer map.

    Hi Leo

You've got to give some notice when you're going to be in Sydney, I live 3 hours drive away so don't get there so much. But.......an international apostafest would be worth the trip.

    your trip sounds great.

and Es, just keep your fluids up......you'll have a great time.

    Best wishes

    WOW!!

I am jealous! This sounds like a great place to visit.

We have many trips planned for this summer/fall but none are this adventurous.

New York, Panama City, Marco Island, and Phoenix this year.

Maybe we can do down under next year?

    Have a safe trip.....!!

    BREEZE
