I have been in the same circuit since I was 2. That means that most of the 1000 or so in the circuit know me to some extent.

In my "later" days as a witness I kept a very limited close circle of friends. But I'm still fairly well known. Not "popular" but recognizable.

My mother has recieved a lot of gifts recently (candles, a blanket, cards, candy) and tons of phone calls.

So word is spreading, and thats good.

And if the hall is getting plagued with phone calls (which I hope it is) then that's even better.

In my former congregation, their was a wife who had an unbelieving husband she dragged around a lot. He was very nice, cooked a hell of a pizza, and was smart enough not to join anything. He respects his wife's views, but he sticks to his own.

He and his wife came into my work the other evening. The wife kept her distance, but the husband came ovr and gave me a huge hug.

    pissed her off.

    good.

I'll bet he is not getting anything good for a long long time.

    Nice one Rich.

Free at last. Im wondering how a candle is supposed to console your mom for the loss of her sons everlasting life? Surely nothing short of a few hundred bucks would make the old girl feel better.

Maybe she needs to make it a bit clearer...

At least Mom's friends are acknowledging "the loss". I'm glad for her.

I think more and more, every time someone we know is "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses", then those who are left behind are always eager to find out what happened. And with mass communication in this day and age, the truth about "the Truth" is easier than ever to find.

Richie, let's hope that some from your old KH can "be won without a word".

Hi Richie, glad things are going well for you, and your'e making non - jw friends. That's one of the benefits of freedom, yoy get to choose your associates and not have the elders advice as to the wisdom of your choice.
