    what ColdRedRain said....

Because worshipping invisible beings that have esoteric impact on your life is socially accepted insanity.

even if I ever we're to believe in a god again, I may "accept beliefs", but never "Join" a religion...

Religion is a meme, infecting people's mind.

I left the JWs as a "Christian," in a sense my "faith" was stronger than it had ever been even though it had grown in a very non-fundamentalistic way. So I found only natural to share it with other Christian believers, and I attended church for several years.

I dropped it altogether 10 years ago. My daughter was about to be born, and I suddenly realised (after a Church meeting for the preparation of Sunday school to be precise) that while I could still personally enjoy the church services I didn't want her to be subjected to any confessional religious education (even though it was a pretty liberal church). From then on I quickly faded from church attendance (which was a very easy thing to do).

I can still enjoy the church settings and liturgy once in a while but prefer to do so as an outsider.

In the past, when i was in a sticky situation i used to think 'Help me god, i need your wisdom'. But it's occurred to me (and this is all about breaking free from the hold of religion/god) that i'm perfectly capable of sorting out my own life, ta very much!!! I've been used to being tied to religious belief for 35 years and always looked somewhere else for guidance, but no more. It's hard to imagine for someone that was as deeply entrenched in it as me how hard it has been not to look up to the sky and seek guidance, but i'm free of that now. We are all perfectly capable of living life in total alienation from our imaginary friend. Religion is for people that can't work on their own. Opium of the people????? Ohhh YES!!!

    Peace

It has been said that a lot of people would not even go into the front door of many 4-star restaurants, let alone pay $125 a plate, if they ever had to work in the kitchen there.

I know that as a college kid, when I worked service & repair on electronic musical instruments and stereos I lost interest in that sort of thing as a recreational hobby. Same for computers now that I am a software development engineer - we only have an old Mac in the house.

I think a lot of ex-witnesses are like this...we had to examine a religion (and the whole notion of religion in general) so up close and personal to make the exit that it is now a lot easier to see the faults of other churches. No matter how well-meaning such churches might be. There are some disturbing similaraties to them all.

I tried going back to Presbyterian a couple of times, but I guess I just wasn't predestined to continue with it. Or, maybe my lifetime innoculation for this disease was kicking in...

I didn't Join another religion, i became a CHRISTIAN!! the Three things we can all be sure that will tell us where the REAL truth is is THE BIBLE!!, THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND JESUS CHRIST!!

The bible says if anyone be lacking in wisdom to ask God for it, and he gives it freely and without reproach. Listen, according to bible prophecy, we are on the BRINK of the great tribulation, and if you want to live in HEAVEN, YES, IN HEAVEN with Jesus and see all of your LOVED ones who believed he died on the cross for our sins, then i would recommend some prayerful consideration of these facts. What the bible says is true, there is physical evidence of things that happened in bible times. Jehovah said that his word that goes forth from his mouth will not return to him withou results. I believe it, God said it, and that's all there is to it. I have a 7 year old child who knows more about CHRIST than an average JW!!

Thankfully, he, too can spend eternity with me in heaven with Christ!!

Organized religion is too much a turnoff...too many personal beliefs. The realization that in the end we are all accountable for ourselves is enough for me.

No, I could never join another religion. No Christian religion is able to leave their filthy hands off the teachings of Jesus, they just have to add their own twists on things. Besides, I don't remember Jesus telling us we should join the Catholics or Baptists or Lutherans or JWs....
