Never heard that one before. Sounds typical though.

That is one more example of the restrictive cultic mentality and why they are correctly described as control freaks, "I have no fear" could be associated with numerous positive things for the JWs eg I have no fear of yielding to sexual temptation.
But as with politics they tend to see everything in black and white. Strange thing they didn't ban cameras yet since they are being used to do terrible things eg child pornography. -

I never heard that one, but we were told not to wear any t-shirts with bands on them, as it was idolizing them. Oh, and ixnay on the posters as well....I had a poster of David Lee Roth on my door, chained to a chain link fence, with his shirt off...........................mom ripped it down.

T-shirts with words, graphics, logos, etc., could not be worn at quick builds, temporary or permanent Bethel workers, and at congregation dos such as picnics and KH cleanup days, working before or after conventions/assemblies; cleanup days at assembly halls............
Took care of everything..........I suppose even a picture of Prince on your shirt is verboten.

Well, it really belongs on that old thread "what was the stupidest thing you ever got counseled for" - but in the lost old days there was a snow-ski t-shirt which held forth:
NO GUTS NO GLORY
Guess who got called in on the carpet for that one?
Guess who commissioned a new one which said
I BUSTED MY ASS AT WOLF CREEK PASS

What about that stupid song "We're jehovah's witnesses, we speak out in fearlessness..."? Guess they shouldn't sing it, huh?
Dang women always stealin my comments
I thought of another song they sing about NOT having fear
.........fear not those who kill the body.....but cannot destroy the soul....to the end continue faithful....I will lead you to your goal
If the society were into logo's on shirts and THEY had come up with the idea.......they wouldn't have a problem. Money always talks for them.... and if they ain't gettin money from it, they demonize it.

Speaking of proper attire, the newest KM has instructions in it to wear your dress clothes EVEN WHEN TRAVELLING TO AND FROM THE CONVENTION CITY.

Do you have scan of that or at least a word for word excerpt?

Ugg, you got to be kidding. Even when I enjoyed going to the assemblies the whole family would always change prior to driving home.

I'm too old for the "no fear" fad but when I was a teenager, t-shirts that had rock stars/bands on them were also looked down on. I owned a few and I got counseled for it. In addition, posters on bedroom walls of anything worldly was counseled against. I had to keep my Farrah Fawcett poster hidden. She only came out for special occasions...
