no, my wife has a few books on witchcraft and astrology etc. but I do still have nightmares every now and then about demons.

Absolutely not. I have a deep interest in all things esoteric, and collect among other things, tarot and other types of divinatory cards. I have a room in my house that I dedicate as my "Spirit Room". It contains my personal altar with my different fetishes and totems. I use sage and sweetgrass to balance and clear the energy in my house. I am studying with a Shaman Elder and have had various "mystical" experiences. I strongly believe that there are many other dimensions to our world, what some might call the "spirit realm". All that said, the only time I've ever truly been frightened of the spirit dimension was when I was studying the "Truth" book with a couple who had been sent from Bethel to establish our small congregation in Upstate New York. I had always felt comfortable reading ghost stories and generally just exploring the whole subject. Then, during the studies, I was told about Satan and his Demons and how they were out to get faithful Christians who worship Jehovah, and told about demon possession and other fearful things and I became absolutely terrified. From the very beginning of my life, I've had an extraordinary sensitivity and connection to the spiritual dimension, and to have the WTS frighten me so deeply, really stole part of my soul! It's a disgrace that any young person should be terrified to sleep in their own room because they fear a demon under their bed or in the closet. Fear closes our minds and closes any way of understanding and exploring our world, no matter what dimension. I was a witness for 25 years, and it is my hope to spend the next 25 helping others to grow without fear and shame, instead to grow with open hearts and minds and joy.

free2beme----I would probably smile at you, point my own pretty pentacle or triple-moon necklace and invite you for a tea-leave reading or solstice celebration.

Esoterism is another very intersting subject.

If I saw someone wearing a pentacle, I'd just say, "Blessed Be" and wish them a nice day. Occult items and beliefs have been squashed and vilified by Christianity for centuries in order to stamp out the few remaining fragments of pre-Christian belief. The victor--Christianity in this case--always gets to rewrite history, and the order of the day was to vilify anything that would compete with their own beliefs. An interesting book, Pagans & Christians, by Gus DiZerega, Ph.D., explains the relationship between the two and why they are not necessarily opposed.

My Witness relatives claim that there are demons in our house. Yet my nonChristian friends feel my house has a comfortable balance of energy. My nonChristian friends are more relaxed and easy to get along with and my Witness relative are uptight and always stressing about one thing or another the congregation or organization is putting them though. The Witnesses do not seem to have a very universal balance in their life, and I think they label items that could help them to much as demons.

Just to add, I hope people do not think "Occult" means devil worship. It does not, and I do not believe in the Christian Devil, neither do I worship it.

Yea, id be pretty scared of occult things.

When you have been programmed to be terrified of certain things since you were a baby, when you have spent your entire childhood having nightmares about a set of things you have been told to avoid on pain of eternal death, well old habits die hard.

I never had a successful occult experience, and let me tell you, I TRIED! My reasoning was, if evil can be proven, then good can be proven. Ouija boards never worked, none of that stuff worked. It's all bul$&hit, in my opinion. After watching Penn & Teller's show about it, I'm even more convinced. Oddly enough, their show is also called Bu$%hit!

so, if you analyze the above definitions, it's main meaning is something hidden or obscure. That's it. It does mention supernatural, but, that in and of itself is not a bad thing. Remember, God, the angels, etc. are all supernatural beings. It is basically Christianity or rather the Bible that gave it it's negative connotations.

free2 i find that buildings have different feelings, kingdom halls are devoid of any atmosphere or warmth, if theres so much 'luuuurrrv' i'd have thought you'd feel it when you walk through the door, especially when theres pepes in there.

they were 'empty/cold' when i was younger and going regularly, they all felt the same whichever one i was visiting, it didnt dawn on me until i was years older and went back to a wedding and felt that old same empty feeling (in yet another hall).

to me they are dead ground.
