Relax, nobody here hates you. Obviously or they wouldn't keep responding! They and I don't want you to join this highly destructive group. Your little joke was (now edited) was in bad taste. We all just want you to start thinking for yourself. Being a people pleaser in life can lead to alot of problems! Maybe you need to get away from her for awhile and do some serious thinking on your own. Have you written your brother? Do you value his opinion? What does he think of your involvement with group that thinks he is of the devil? Have you looked into those biblical questions I asked you? Why not?

I think you are unsure of what to think about many things right now, if that is the case, do you think it would be healthy to listen to someone who tells you exactly what you should think and do in life? You are a young woman with your whole life ahead of you, don't waste the most precious years of your life in a destructive organization. If you had a daughter would you want her to be strong and capable and able to think for herself and have goals in life? do you? what are those goals?

If you join this org. your goal will be knocking on doors making sure you fill out time slips so men can judge you spiritual enough. You will be knocking on doors spreading many false prophecies and doctrines. Have you looked up the many, many flip-flops of the wt? If they have truth, does God keep changing His mind or do men? If they keep getting things wrong should we listen to them at all?

IFNP - you have your life ahead of you. Why do you feel that you need to make a decision here and now. Why not study all religions and beliefs out there. Be open minded and try a little of everything. JWs are not the only religious people who will accept you. My guess is that you feel that you have found people who are willing to take an interest in you and now you are willing to sell your soul to keep that connection.

Don't be so hard on yourself. As your your tread topic, thank you for changing the title. You don't need to shock people here to get their attention in order to discuss a subject with them. People here will listen to you and your fears. A person's fears and weaknesses are real and we would never minimize them.

Take your time. Read everything you can get your hands on. Become an educated religious consumer. Don't buy into what a person tells you because they are paying attention to you. If you find that what you are reading is true to you, then you should continue to pursue it. However, if you question it, then you should weigh your options and continue down the path that is truly right for you.

    Thanks for editing it. :)
You said: "Have you written your brother? Do you value his opinion? What does he think of your involvement with group that thinks he is of the devil? Have you looked into those biblical questions I asked you? Why not?"
I have written my brother.. haven't sent it yet (no reason why I haven't)
He doesn't know my involvment with the JWs or most of their beliefs; however
I know my brother would support me in anything I do... although he may be concerned...
he would not hinder what I want to do (as a JW or not).
It seems you already assumed that I have not looked into the biblical questions...
I dislike researching exspecially on something I am involved with right now.
Like... for example: lets say you have a dance coming up and you really are excited to go then someone tells you that it has been canceled. SURE you would enjoy people telling you, so you would not be hurt in the end, but it would hurt either way. I guess I am scared to be proven wrong, or that the things I do are wrong. It is fear... fear that I am doing something wrong. Fear that without these people I wont be happy (not like now). I know.. I know it is "love bombing"-- I realize that, but it feels so good, even if it is not real.
It is like... in the example; I am so excited to go to the dance, but even if it is canceled... I wouldn't want to hear about it.

Please... do not assume I use this as a last resort... because I don't
I was studying Buddhism before this... almost, seriously, considering converting I was highly involved in my research about this group.
Also, I looked at some cult books and sue enough the JWs were listed. BTW... I am 17 :)

The problem is that the religion is not merely a dance, but a whole way of life. If you already feel lost and alone and you become one of JWs and you do anything that is displeasing to them, you are out and they shun you. Shunning is a practice that allows them to make you feel like crap. If you already have low self esteem, imagine how horrible that will be. What will you do then? Your life may seen lonely now, but you are still young. Go to college, widen your views, this will help you to be less socially awkward. Do you feel you must make a decision at 17 that will effect your entire life? If so, why? Take your time. Live your life. Enjoy your life.

Aw Elizabeth... ((((hugs)))) to you for everything. I know you're being totally overwhelmed right now with so much that you're hearing, learning, experiencing... trying to meld it with how you feel and what maybe your gut is telling you vs what JW and exJW both are telling you. You came here seeking -- but sometimes the info can be 'too much'.

You've told us about some psych problems; in kindness, I recommend starting back up with a therapist -- a good one this time. None of us here mean any disrespect or want to hurt you. Many here are on a healing journey, so understand where you're coming from, even if we have to read between the lines of your text.

Keep reading, keep seeking and keep your mind open.

oooohkey, but eventually when you show up and there's no one there, the doors are locked and you hear no music, you eventually have to face reality that there ain't no dance.

**SLAP to the face** "SNAP OUT OF IT" Start facing reality.... you're going to start scaring the kids.

Hey people, go easy on her, she`s young. As for the original question:

What if he dies in Iraq and I am still studying with her, what will she think? What will she say if that happens?

She will say "He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword" (Matthew 26:52). And that`s probably all you`re gonna get from her on that issue. Oh, and of course, she will tell you that he will be ressurected, of course, because he died before Armageddon.

    I-F-T-N-P:

I guess maybe... I don't know... maybe I said it to please her, because I enjoy knowing I do please her.

Maybe that response was conditioned. I don't know what to think right now... I really never thought why I answered so quickly.

Maybe to please her... maybe to get approval. I just have people issues and attachment issues, so it is easy for me to get friends,

but not easy for me to keep them.

Yes, you did. She allready has a hold on you, and you feel good when you obey her, don`t you? But tell me, how do you feel overall and deep down inside? IFTNP, I think you should talk to someone about all of this. Talk to your parents about what really goes on in that "Bible study", about what she is teaching you about the Bible, about what a JW is expected to do once she is baptised (field service, 4 meetings a week, giving up higher education, pioneering, etc), and talk to your parents about possibly getting some professional help? Maybe a counselor at school? Or a therapist? (they`re not dangerous, you know, everybody got one ).

People, don`t be hard on IFTNP. She is young and impressionable. No need to scare her away from this forum. This forum might be the last barrier between sanity and cult-life for her.

    Oh, and IFTNP:

This is not a school dance we`re talking about here. It`s the rest of your life!

Do you have access to Fox's book of Martyrs?

If so, this should be sufficient to dispel any doubts you may have about Christians serving in the military. If you share this with the JW who is studying a book with you she will probably discount it as lies from Satan, however, it is very well documented and supported as fact.

The Fourth Persecution, Under Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, AD 162 —Fox's Book of Martyrs

Some of the restless northern nations having risen in arms against Rome, the emperor marched to encounter them. He was, however, drawn into an ambuscade, and dreaded the loss of his whole army.

Enveloped with mountains, surrounded by enemies, and perishing with thirst, the pagan deities were invoked in vain; when the men belonging to the militine, or thundering legion, who 'were all Christians, were commanded to call upon their God for succor. A miraculous deliverance immediately ensued: a prodigious quantity of rain fell, which, being caught by the men, and filling their dykes, afforded a sudden and astonishing relief. It appears that the storm which miraculously flashed in the face of the enemy so intimidated them, that part deserted to the Roman army; the rest were defeated, and the revolted provinces entirely recovered.

This affair occasioned the persecution to subside for some time, at least in those parts immediately under the inspection of the emperor; but we find that it soon after raged in France, particularly at Lyons, where the tortures to which many of the Christians were put, almost exceed the powers of description.

The Ninth Persecution Under Aurelian, AD 274—Fox's Book of Martyrs

In the year of Christ 286, a most remarkable affair occurred; legion of soldiers, consisting of six thousand six hundred and sixty-six men, contained none but Christians. This legion was called the Theban Legion, because the men had been raised in Thebias: they were quartered in the east until the emperor Maximian ordered them to march to Gaul, to assist him against the rebels of Burgundy. They passed the Alps into Gaul, under the command of Mauritius, Candidus, and Exupernis, their worthy commanders, and at length joined the emperor. Maximian, about this time, ordered a general sacrifice, at which the whole army was to assist; and like-wise he commanded that they should take the oath of allegiance and swear, at the same time, to assist in the extirpation of Christianity in Gaul. Alarmed at these orders, each individual of the Theban Legion absolutely refused either to sacrifice or take the oaths precribed. This so greatly enraged Maximian, that he ordered the legion to be decimated, that is, every tenth man to be selected from the rest, and put to the sword. This bloody order having been put in execution, those who remained alive were still inflexible, when a second decimation took place, and every tenth man of those living was put to death. This second severity made no more impression than the first had done; the soldiers preserved their fortitude and their principles, but by the advice of their officers they drew up a loyal remonstrance to the emperor. This, it might have been presumed, would have softened the emperor, but it had a contrary effect: for, enraged at their perseverance and unanimity, he commanded that the whole legion should he put to death, which was accordingly executed by the other troops, who cut them to pieces with their swords, September 22, 286.
