I have doubts, as there is such thing as insurance the society has tons.
--------------------------------------
No they don't. One of their more lucrative scams is that the WT acts as its own re-insurer. Basically, every congregation in the US buys their insurance from ... the Watchtower! The basic idea is the following: The Society collects a monthly premium from every congregation. In the event a local disaster destroys a handful of kingdom halls, no biggie: They pay out enough to replace the destroyed hall. Scam works until a "big" event destroys LOTS of Kingdom halls. Then, they are screwed.
But, $100 million seems a tad high. Figure each KH costs $250,000 to replace (being extremely generous here). That's like 400 Kingdom Halls. I really doubt that many Kingdom Halls were destroyed. But, who knows...
Has Anybody Heard This Rumor?

They're rebuilding houses, so that has to be included in the $100 M figure.

If they are sending people, they are no doubt volunteers (do they get to count the time?). If that is so the money would only have to go to materials, permits, and transportation. 100 million is a lot of dollars for this kind of effort, unless they are rebuilding houses for individuals, which seems unlikely. Most of the witnesses I've known have lived in rentals, and I'd guess that would be even more true in a city with demographics like New Orleans.
Most likely just another rumor.

This person is not an "ordinary" Witness but rather someone with deep connections to the rebuilding oversight and authority.
I was heartened to hear that such large sums were involved, as this may quickly drain money freed up by laying off Bethelites,
selling buildings and cutting back on the Awake. In that vein, I also report a conversation between two brothers cheerleading
about the sale of the Furman building completely covering the cost of the new printing facility. What they failed to grasp
was that this must mean that the Kingdom Ministry's call for contributions for this purpose must have failed!

I dont know Met. 100 mil. is a figure that just might make headlines. I'd have to say that number is embelished a bit.

Maybe the amount included booze money for the volunteers? Lots of top shelf alcohol and tranquilizers.

yeah, but I thought if they rebuild a good little dubbies house, they make the sucker fork over the insurance check to the society. So, either way it's a net gain.

It sounds too round a figure, to me, but who knows.
I bet they haven't declared how much they took in "insurance" contributions from the self-same congregations in the first place, though.
How much do they charge for annual insurance? I'll throw in a guesstimate, since homeowner insurance pretty much starts around $1000. 1000 Halls would net $1M / year. I'm sure they insure far more than that, and never have to pay out.
Additional point: insurance is a gamble

I call bullshit on that! The society makes out like MAD after these disasters! They are running a slave army of trained construction workers, most of the materials are donated, any money that the individuals get for their homes (home owners insurance) or that state and federal agencies issue are suppose to be 100 percent donated back to the whore, so that all goes right into their pockets! I heard of people being told that the money that fema gave out a percentage should be donated to the society (a large percentage was implied!) I know after the hurricanes in Florida the donations went up a LOT as well! These disasters are cash cows for this sick cult!
Now if you said they MADE 100 million I could buy that!
