Howdy,
Just coming back in - rented a movie last night & my kids called me - we all just talked and wanted to touch base with family. My df'd nephew called from Conn. just to talk - he has no family to talk to. Interesting that all the kids who called me were young men - not talking of revenge, just talking of the tragedy.
Btw, no mention of The Great A. was mentioned, just try to believe the disbelief.
I've been reading on the forum......and one thing that's not been mentioned that I've read yet. The NBC morning show brought up the point if we wanted to help with the Relief Work, we could contribute some money to the Salvation Army or some blood to the Red Cross.
We don't know how many people will be killed within the next couple of weeks - Americans and any/all who then are felt to be their enemies. But there will be more grieving families everywhere.
Perhaps we can donate some to help a little?

They wouldn't have much use for my blood, I'm afraid, or else I'd be down there donating. I'm sure a relief fund will be announced that will be specifically for the families of those killed; I'll get in on that.
The best thing, though, will be if some New York JWs can get in there and hand out tracts and back issues to the people trapped in the rubble.

How tacky. I would assume that the local elders, after seeing that their book studies are ok, will visit the local hospitals to make sure that no jw takes any unauthorized blood components.
Better to help them or their children to die faithful to the Borg.
And I would assume that the HLC will be on hand checking medical records after surgeries. After all, it would be so busy, so that a quick sneak to see *exactly* what that "red stuff" is wouldn't be too hard to accomplish.

As a person who has been a first responder in a few cases, I watched in absolute horrier as fire crews tried to go "up" a building that they should have known was coming down. I also knew that my cousin at 41st street raced downtown from his office see if he could help. Fortunately, for him Tower 2 collapsed before he got there and reversed his course. I now only have a few humble comments.
Unlike Clinton's asprin factory bombing in the Sudan, we are about to see what power is all about this time.
I hate war and revenge is such a sad thing. But a message needs to be sent by all nations to those who are responsible, or it is going to keep happening. This is long over due thanks to former adminstrations and world leaders.
The thought of the Battle of Zama keeps coming to mind. In that, Maximus please correct me if I am wrong, the Romans went in and killed 450,000 of the 500,000 people in Carthage and the remainder were put into slavery. Then to top it off the Roman's salted the fields so nothing would grow.
By early last night, I suspect the leadership of the world has realized that Bin Ladden's group with the necessary help of the Afgan regime and some of the Paki military were involved. Bin Ladden would never have gotten this far without the assistance of Pakistan and Afkanistan.
Interesting to me last night was how even Cuba and Libya came out to depore the act. That says a lot in my mind about what is going to happen.
I suspect Revenge will also be taken out on those who failed to protect the planes, who built the world trade centre and putting the 1st responders into a builing that was going to collapse and that also slowed the exiting of the building. And of course revenge may be taken on those in the building who came over the loud speaker and said Tower 2 was still safe to work in even though Tower 1 was hit - of course we all know minutes later what happened to Tower 2 and "shockwave" damage done to superstructure by both blasts.
Remember what Bush said last night and look out - the Russians are on board and the Chinese will do their usual "I abstain" thing at the United Nations. Even the Iranians hate the Afgan regime because of the drug trade. If I was living in Beruit, anywhere in Afganistan or anywhere Pakistan, I would be getting the hell out of there fast.
After it is over, and this is most important, I hope that the United States will come up with a proper foreign policy that brings the Arab world together with the Developing countries. The United States and other countries must also protect their citizens who have Arab backgrounds from revenge. This policy has been lacking for so many years.
I continue to realize the world is much more peaceful and freer now than at any time. But to make it more peaceful for my little son, a message has to be sent.
On a final point with respect to revenge. I think the Americans need to deport Peter Jennings back to my country. This Canadian high school drop out's coverage with his political angle instead of just reporting the news was absolutely deplorable.

FBI agents were investigating evidence that suspected sympathisers of Osama Bin Laden were operating in Broward County and Daytona Beach in the state of Florida.
CNN television is reporting that several people are already being held for questioning in Boston and Florida.The FBI is requesting information about two cars, a two-door red Pontiac and a four-door tan Oldsmobile, suspected to be linked to the attacks.
It is dealing with 700 leads from the public and has set up a website containing a form people can use to report any new information on the attacks.
Republican Senator Orrin Hatch told The Associated Press that the name of a suspected supporter was found on the passenger list of one of the aircraft.
Also, a report in the Boston Herald said that authorities in Massachusetts had identified at least five Arab men as suspects in the attacks launched from Logan International Airport.
Officers are said to have seized a car laden with Arabic-language flight training manuals from the central parking garage.
Two of the men, whose passports were traced to the United Arab Emirates, were brothers, one of whom was a trained pilot, an unnamed source told the Herald.
The Boston Globe said that the luggage of one of the men, who arrived in Boston on another flight, had been found after it missed his connection.
It contained a Koran, an instructional video on flying commercial airliners and a fuel consumption calculator.
There were also reports that the hijackers were able to do what they did by smuggling shaving kits containing knife-like weapons aboard the planes.
"Everything is pointing in the direction of Osama Bin Laden", Senator Orrin Hatch said.
He added that US intelligence had intercepted conversations between Bin Laden supporters discussing Tuesday's attacks and acknowledging that targets had been hit.
However Afghanistan's ruling Taleban - on whose territory Mr Bin Laden lives - rejected the idea that he could have been involved.
BBC world affairs editor John Simpson said Mr Bin Laden undoubtedly had the capabilities to have carried out the attack.
He said Mr Bin Laden had 2,000 men in training camps in Afghanistan, most of them Arabs from countries like Algeria and Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Mr Bin Laden's organisation openly seeks "to kill Americans and the allies, both civil and military," and declares that this is the responsibility of every Muslim.

Your views are simplistic and flawed. The response America makes to this attack cannot be about justice; nothing can ever be done to ‘even the scales’ after this act. America’s response is all about setting a precedent. If America fails to show the world that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated it will constitute an open invitation for continued attacks. The response America makes must be an overreaction on such a scale that it makes the contemplation of acts like this in the future simply unthinkable.
