What must a brother do to become a MS and Elder the fastest possible

Attend all meetings; show up at least 10-15 ahead of time. Make sure to greet all the elders. If you really want to score points, stand by the door and greet everyone who comes in.

Be out in service at least every Saturday morning. If you go out during the week this will greatly increase your notability, since you will be mentioned by the Elder's wives. Cushion your time report with a few extra hours here and there - get it up to at least 15-20 hours per month. If you are a young or middle-aged man this will get your noticed.

Comment at least once per meeting. They need not be special comments, full of grand ideas or anything... in fact, it might be best if your comments reflect a lack of independant thought. ;)

Always show up for the KH cleanup days. Take advantage of every opportunity to hob-nob with the elders. Help them move their furniture to their new home or whatever. Invite them over for a BBQ.

Never get in an argument with an MS or elder and especially any of the elder's wives. Smile at everyone and never step on anyone's toes.

Finally, accept any "privelege" they give you. You need not do your job well, but in all cases it must be done without questioning.

Regular in field service, maybe aux. sometimes (they look at hours carefully)

    Commenting regularly at meetings

Good conduct (nothing bad that stands out)

Handling of all assignments, also volunteering for some

Develop friendship with a few elders (little brown nosing goes a long way, just don't over do it)

Likability is a good asset (thats true of everything)

Don't confess any sins maybe slight ones like (well sometimes I stay up late on the weekends; when the CO comes around, the elders discuss different brothers and what ever you may have mentioned to a elder gets repeated)

Servant appointment in less than two years

Elder appointment two years after that (unless there is a real need and you are mature then it may come sooner)

    1) Be seen out suupporting Field Service groups as often as possible. Stay out for only 1 hour if you have to but get out often. Little and often is better tahn once per month and doing 10 hours on that day

    2) Do volunteer talks on the Theocratic School. If somebody does not turn up for their assigment , be the first to volunteer.

    3) If you are asked to help out or offered an assignment, accept it gratefully

    4) Be hospitable and invite the odd elder and pioneer around to dinner

Very revealing, if not maybe a little cynical...but:

"not giving themselves to a lot of wine" - doesn't this just mean that you can drink a lot of wine, but dont give yourself to it .. i.e. get loaded. A prospective MS is often judged by the ability to hold his liquor.

Further, (seriously), I didn't see it that uncommon for new converts to have a fast track to the position. After all, they are usually a great celebrity provided they don't get caught doing something bad. Also, you have not been around to let them see you grow up, learn to drive, go to supervised party events, etc.

In my case, I moved away to pioneer somewhere they did not know me (and were desperate for someone to help do the meetings).

It doesn't hurt to be an elder's son or son-in-law; nephew, grandson, etc.

    Very simple:

Be a "company man" who will do and believe anything the Watchtower Society tells them to do via the local elders.

Once your nose turns a shiny brown you will be well on your way!

Wasn't there a book to help aspiring elders in this very matter?

    Slim

Yeah Slim..................about a year or so ago........a jw from the WT farm posted here but he asked for all his posts to be deleted because he said a lot of stuff that could expose him. I believe he is the one who wrote the book or at least was "hawking" it. He and his still believing wife were afraid that they would be two of those "deported" to the real world of work and bill paying. From what he said.....they were in their 50's and at the farm for quite a few years. I just hope the two of them are able to cope........whether they are still at the farm or have been released. He went by the name of schwartzmnn and also posted on another forum where his posts still are. HappyDad
