Like was said earlier there are different types. There is too little differentation(sp?) as to embryonic or otherwise. I am for it IF it does not include ending the life of an unborn baby. If embryonic stem cells are harvested from miscarriages, accident victims and such that is ok too. Just no deliberate premature ending of life.
Stem Cell Research---Are You For or Against It?

The hospital where I work is doing amazing things with stem cell research. I've just read an account of a patient who was suffering and terribly debilitated from multiple sclerosis. She underwent a stem cell transplant and has made a full recovery. She was even able to return to work and walk down the aisle at her own wedding.
I'm so for it.

The clue is in the question - cell.
Let's not get to thinking we are dealing with independant living creatures here who are sacrificed in the name of science. They are simply cells.

Definitely for it. Could be one of the greatest breakthroughs in medical history.

I'm a little ignorant on this subject- I assume they are not aborting fetuses SOLELY for their stem cells...???
Abortions are going to happen anyway, right? Why not use that resource for medical advancement?
Being pro-stem cell research (from fetuses) does not mean that you are pro-abortion, just that you are anti-waste (of fetuses). That is, if they are not aborting solely for the stem cells. Can anyone clue me in on this??? -

I'm for most of it. About 95% for it I guess. Sometimes I am on the fence about creating embryos to harvest stem cells. It's all a little too much like the Matrix to me. I know that at that stage there is no memory but the fact the embryo can develop into a person with thoughts and emotions makes me feel a little weird. But, since I haven't really researched either side that much I'm going to side "for it" just because of the potential benefits to sick people.

I'm for it too. Even though I have reservations on the ethical side of it.
However, I kind of get the feeling that this subject may be holding out a lot of false hopes for some desperate people who don't need to be messed around with. No medical knowledge or reason, just a feeling.
I am also pretty sure that a lot of the agenda for the embryo aspect is simply from the pro-abortion side. But, let's face it - abortion is not going to go away...so, why not try to gain some human benefit from it if we can?
