WTC Charity: A Blown Opportunity by WTS

Apart from the noble imperatives of Christian charity, the Society's rather tepid response to the need for emergency assistance in the aftermath of the WTC tragedy across the harbor illustrates how calcified the thinking of their leadsership has become.
I know, they've accepted a few overnight JW guests and accommodated some others, but when measured against the magnitude of their resources, these meager photo-op and PR-op gestures are tiny.
By failing to sieze the moment, they blew a priceless opportunity to cut a a firebreak across what they must know will be a maelstrom of publice outrage and criticism when the Dateline story runs.

First I was shocked that they even had a "PR" tape about this, and that it made no attempt to preach in it. Truely looked produced for non-JWs to make them look good.

Yet it was such a piss-poor production, and so lame I couldn't beleive it.

You said it. They could have been out in the street, feeding/housing hundreds. How about all those stranded in the area? All it would have taken would be a call to a local news agency to say "We have 300 beds here" or "We can feed 300 today" or whatever.

And what do we get? Oooo, they put up a few dozen or so JWs who happened to STOP THERE. I doubt they even sought out those. And now they want to make like they were SO charitable?

have any of you actuallly made an attempt
to verify the WTS lack of "action"
I know many of you have because you all live
    in NYC.
I am also sure no matter what they did,it would
never be enough to satisfy you.

O don't start NY1. You know that it's business as usual at 'gods house'. They're probably pissed that people stopped working to watch the towers Tues.

Here's a perfect example of the 'love' Bethel would show ...

You can get your 'evidence' by driving your sorry ass over to Bethel.

FYI, nytelecom1, I have verified the lack of action by the Watchtower Society. According to certain of my JW relatives who have close contacts with Bethel, and according to others who have such close contacts, the most that was done was that the Society fed and gave shelter to at most a couple of hundred JWs who worked in downtown Manhattan and went to the Brooklyn Bethel facility for shelter. I repeat that it was at most a couple of hundred JWs -- no one else -- who received help, and received it after getting there under their own power. One contact who actually works there thought it was only a few dozen JWs who came in.

can you tell us any different? please, we'd love to know what we're missing nytel....give us the full account of all the "action(s)" the society is taking or has taken. if you can't, and there is no more than what's already been posted, we'll have to continue to believe what's already been verified as an obvious lack of "action".
