I liked Jgnat's thoughts here that it takes quite a bit more than a few brothers rallying together to force change in a big highly controlled organization.

It is common knowledge the Irish of modern history have been held back by the domination and famine and poverty. But their culture has always been an interesting one to follow and various sons and daughters have made huge impacts on the world and have advanced society.

Actually a relative of mine invented the toilet, for which Im sure we are all grateful.

But back to the topic.

While skimming posts from 2001-2002, I came across a post (I don't remember who wrote it) that said the only WT doctrine that needs to be changed right now is their disfellowshipping policy. If they stopped the shunning, then this board, reform groups, and all other vehicles for change would no longer be needed. Honest discussion about all JW doctrine could then take place where it always should have -- in the KHs, the branch offices, and Bethel itself. If that were ever to happen, all the other hateful doctrines would soon fall by the wayside.
That's why the WTS will never change its position on shunning.

I agree 100%. That's the one single impediment to true discussion & change. KH meetings would take on a whole different flavor.

Can you imagine a WT or book study where there is more than one correct answer...and it may not be the one that's printed for you ???

The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower,yes the reason the Watchtower came into existence was to declare Jesus second coming in 1914.When the prophecy (derived from William Miller of 1842) failed they said that he came "invisibly".

And it really is just that simple. This is the reason the exisist. It's not to let the 'truth' be known, it's to let themselves be known.

The structure of the Society is such that it is well insulated from pressure to modernise.
This has been seen over again over many years.
The biggest change of the past 10 years (and particularly the last 5 years) has been the expotential growth of the internet. This will continue to inform people to the point that the Society will be forced to change. - example totally incomprehensible changes to the blood stance (red blood fractions now allowed) - could this be anything to do with pressure from AJWRB.com

Hell no - I meant absolutely every word. Irish culture is wonderful and they have made a large contribution to civilization - literture being just one. The Jews have made a massive contribution also

Criticising the FDS is strictly forbidden even when there are obvious issues that need to be changed, the dubs must be docile sheep and wait on the FDS to make those changes after receiving inspiration from jehovah.

So all external attempts to improve the org are viewed with immense suspicion and ruthlessly suppressed, the R&F can not possibly have divine inspiration especially if they are not anointed.

Jehovah deals only through the FDS who in fact is just the GB.
