So I am rude? So I am callous?
You know I really don't know where you get that. I didn't say you were any such thing - in fact, I felt that you were in a fashion accusing me of those things thus I addressed them by simply stating that if you read my posts, you will recognize that I am neither of them.
The VA hospitals since they have been 'reworked' for want of a better word, appear to be doing extremely well in providing services and meeting the needs of the population. I think the government of the state of California can do a good job of administering statewide healthcare system as long as the policies are in place and the kinks worked out. Do I think there should be other applications put in place as well, that might go hand in hand with this? Of course. There are immigration and litigious issues to deal with but if you don't move in this direction then what do you propose? You have almost 1/3 of the people in California with no means to get healthcare? I don't believe every person who doesn't have health insurance is lazy or inept. I don't believe it's because they aren't budgeting. Do I like the current government? No. But then again government appears to be run by big business and corporations so I'm not sure what function they really serve anymore - one thing is clear, it isn't to serve the people. Maybe it's time to change that.
People are screaming about healthcare and socialism and holding their purses close to their chest in fear of the taxman but maybe instead of penalizing their own citizen and neighbour, they should look at the money going out of the country to help other nations and ask themselves why they don't move to stop that first. Why is it so difficult to find a way to ensure the safety, and that includes health, of citizens of the USA yet forgive massive debt to other countries and spend trillions on war? Why is it that we find it so easy to slam the majority of Katrina victims based on the actions of a few? Why is it that we applaud the government for sending US men and women to war, yet turn around and tell those same men and women we don't give a rats behind if they have healthcare. We can send them over to fight a war for us but we can't guarantee them or their family healthcare during or after? swife
