so you basically can't answer the question so you go off in left field

Quite frankly I just can't be bothered trying to endlessly explain something so simple to someone of such elevated status - now I do understand that the higher you climb the less oxygen there is and one is apt to get light headed and confused for that reason. The inability to grasp fundamental concepts therefore may be directly attributed to the air they are breathing at such a high altitude.

Sounds to me like you can't answer LDH's question so you embark on an ad hominem attack.

Maybe when you come down of your liberal high horse and mingle with the common folk you might understand why many of us are concerned about socialized healthcare, instead of casting aspersions at people that don't agree with you.

gee xjw...if you read my other posts, you will see that I don't think I'm better than anyone else. I'm not rude. I'm certainly not callous. Talk about the pot! I care little wether or not you agree - its how you debate the issue and since there has been more than enough evidence provided for everyone to digest..those attempts to stir it up once again just didn't work. So you don't like my sense of humor? That's too bad. Hmmmm mingling with the common people? Don't think I've ever said anything about anyone being common - not like some here who have made it pretty clear that they hope property taxes will remain so high that poor folk won't move in near them - or something close to that. If you define common as being working class well gee - you are confused then because I fully support national healthcare for everyone with the benefit at this being aimed at the 45 million un/underinsured - many of them struggling everyday average workers. I believe the 'common' folk deserve to be valued far more than they are by employers, neighbours and government alike. sammieswife..

So I am rude? So I am callous? That's a laugh. Ad hominem noted, but I will not respond in kind.

I do have serious reservations about socialized healthcare. All I have to do is look at the VA Hospitals, and that scares me to death. Most of the Vets I know hate the VA Hospitals. What makes you think that the government's healthcare will be better for anyone else?

You want to leave something as complex as healthcare to a government that is too incompetent to get emergency supplies to New Orleans in a timely fashion? You want to leave your healthcare in the hands of a government that willing pays thousands of dollars for a toilet seat? I can go on and on.

Progressives/liberals make me scatch my chin and wonder how can a group of people that don't trust governement want to leave their healthcare in the hands of the one thing that they trust the least of all. Do you not see the contradiction? Or perhaps you think its because the right people are not incharge of the government.

You know I really don't know where you get that. I didn't say you were any such thing - in fact, I felt that you were in a fashion accusing me of those things thus I addressed them by simply stating that if you read my posts, you will recognize that I am neither of them.

The VA hospitals since they have been 'reworked' for want of a better word, appear to be doing extremely well in providing services and meeting the needs of the population. I think the government of the state of California can do a good job of administering statewide healthcare system as long as the policies are in place and the kinks worked out. Do I think there should be other applications put in place as well, that might go hand in hand with this? Of course. There are immigration and litigious issues to deal with but if you don't move in this direction then what do you propose? You have almost 1/3 of the people in California with no means to get healthcare? I don't believe every person who doesn't have health insurance is lazy or inept. I don't believe it's because they aren't budgeting. Do I like the current government? No. But then again government appears to be run by big business and corporations so I'm not sure what function they really serve anymore - one thing is clear, it isn't to serve the people. Maybe it's time to change that.

People are screaming about healthcare and socialism and holding their purses close to their chest in fear of the taxman but maybe instead of penalizing their own citizen and neighbour, they should look at the money going out of the country to help other nations and ask themselves why they don't move to stop that first. Why is it so difficult to find a way to ensure the safety, and that includes health, of citizens of the USA yet forgive massive debt to other countries and spend trillions on war? Why is it that we find it so easy to slam the majority of Katrina victims based on the actions of a few? Why is it that we applaud the government for sending US men and women to war, yet turn around and tell those same men and women we don't give a rats behind if they have healthcare. We can send them over to fight a war for us but we can't guarantee them or their family healthcare during or after? swife

Clearly Swife chose not to read the article I embedded on this page about UK's NHS system going BROKE and people dying because of it. Big Surprise.

Swife are you employed full-time and in what capacity? Do you have health benefits? Do you use other forms of social services? Do tell.

There's a word for people who always have drama and always need help and are never self sufficient. Ne'er do well.

Well, that is one thing he has done right. Now if he would get it straight on illegal immigrants, I just might be able to vote for him.

Kuehl said she would reintroduce her bill, SB 840, next year and attempt to build more support.

It's only a matter of time.....and btw - my personal business is none of anyone's business here. I brought out an issue thats important to millions of people and was up for debate at all governmental levels. It remains on the table and will continue be the topic of debate for a long time, even after it is implemented. swife

Who ever suggested that Nationalised Healthcare should completely replace Private Healthcare? I certainly never suggested that for a moment. For those who can afford it, why shouldn't they go and get all the elective surgery they want? My only concern is for those who fall through the gaps and either suffer or go bankrupt, regardless of how well thought out their provisions were.

As for the sensationalist article about an NHS foul-up, do you honestly believe that's commonplace?

For all it's faults and foibles, and since it employs humans it'll have them, we have a health service that is at the frontline of care.

I guess the bottom line for me is: why should we play roulette with people's lives? Why shouldn't everyone enjoy the basic security of knowing that their health will be cared for, rather than having an additional worry at a time of vulnerability?
