ISP,
... the level of 'intelligence' is pathetic.
I look at the word "intelligence" from a military perspective: secret information about an actual or potential enemy. Personally, I don't see them as dumb as they might appear. I believe the FBI and CIA (and foreign secret service agencies in France and Israel, according to reports) were not totally taken off guard by who and what happened. The speedy arrests of suspects, location of cars with clearly incriminating evidence, so-called 'safe houses,' etc, is not all that impressive if these agencies already knew who and where these people were. If true, how could some 19 people, under survelliance, find their way in broad daylight onto commercial airlines flying transcontinentally?
But what was the FBI up to?
Good question. Don't look for much interest in this line of questioning.
BTW teejay, I also heard that some of the terrorists received military training!
I can't help but be reminded of Lee Harvey Oswald and his connection with both the CIA and America's bitter enemy (Russia) and how he was arrested so soon after JFK's assassination, having 'left behind' everything but smoke coming from the weapon. It all seems awfully neat to me, and the U.S. government has found rare ground: the unqualified support of the American people, regardless of what the leadership wants to do.
Makes me wonder.
