    Six,

What is "impossible" about a conspiracy?

People have to keep confidence. Have you not noticed how hard that is? Virtually impossible. People with disparate goals have to work as a team, perhaps even for a sustained period, have you not noticed how hard that is? Virtually impossible.

"Impossible" may be hyperbole, but just barely.

Not to mention that wild speculation is a bit silly when solid evidence is waiting to be investigated. "Impossible" conspiracies being posited when simple, very explainable, actions are staring one in the face... well, I realize what I'm dealing with when I speak to those people.

btw, Six, you say, "Not sure the point of this post." Maybe this will help...

True, "not all Arabs, in flight school or otherwise, are on a watch list," but 16 of the 19 WERE. They had also engaged in acts of terrorism against Israel. So, aware of this, the U.S. authorities allow them to come to this country with student visas and, for up to a year, take advanced pilot training courses.

Former terrorists, allowed to come to the US, first of all, given freedom of movement, take their time learning how to fly a commercial airplane, at the completion of which all 19 find their way onto transcontinental flights. Yup, makes sense to me.

You may think the theory is ridiculous, and maybe it is, but none of the facts are made up.

    tj ~ here to help

Could you post a source for that information? Besides, who of us hasn't...er.. nevermind. Also, a source for the information on the "watch list". Not that it will surprise me, but again, as I said, big watch list. Also, imo the next logical step from this information is not a conspiracy, but rather the opposite: loose/lax controls.

but none of the facts are made up
Considering the rumors that fly in the days after things like this, I would not be too sure about that. After all, last night, we just knew that two more teams of highjackers had attemted to get on planes yesterday. Today, it turns out that their were detainments, but no evidence that they were highjackers. Big difference a few hours and more direct information makes.

    Six,

Hard? Yes. Uncommon? Surely. Virtually impossible? Not by a long shot, especially among specially trained, purposeful individuals. Individuals with a personal interest in the success of the mission, say. People motivated by revenge.

Then too, the U.S. has been itching to find bin Laden for a long time and despite their hitech satellites, informants, etc, they have a big goose egg to show for their troubles. Wonder why? People CAN and DO keep confidences -- happens all the time, in the real world.

People with disparate goals have to work as a team, perhaps even for a sustained period, have you not noticed how hard that is? Virtually impossible.

No I haven't noticed. Must be working, cause I sure missed that network of up to 50 Palestinians, responsible for NYC, who've been here for years. (Did YOU notice them?) Man, have you been watching the news? Reports are indicating that it may have taken up to two years to plan and execute this tragedy? Impossible? Please.

Secondly, who said their goals were disparate?

"Impossible" may be hyperbole, but just barely.

    If you say so.

Not to mention that wild speculation is a bit silly when solid evidence is waiting to be investigated. "Impossible" conspiracies being posited when simple,... well, I realize what I'm dealing with when I speak to those people.

Let's call it simply "speculation" and leave out the "wild." It may be impossible to you... that doesn't make it truly impossible. "Simple, very explainable, actions staring one in the face" are effective when a simple, trusting, superficial populace are all you need to convince.

Look, like I said before in this thread and in the other one the other day, I'm not saying one way or the other. I'm just considering possibilities. I refuse to be a lemming, blindly following my patriot, gung-ho, anti-Arab, my-country-right-or-wrong neighbors who aren't listening to the whole story as the news reports reveal it.

One thing I know for a fact: the American people have been hoodwinked before. In major scams. By it's own government.

I just heard it on NBC TV. I'm watching it as I type this. In the meantime, I'm looking for an on-line link....

You said these arabs had already been involved in terrorist actions against israel. As some people know, clinton gave the israelis and jews living in america more than they could ask for. Jews made up a hugely disproportionate percentage of his govt.

So my question not, nessecarily to you, is, if there were really terrorist activities that these shared in against israel, and they were really on a watchlist, then they were already known to both israel and the US as terrorists. Why would the US govt allow them in in the first place? This scenario, then fits with an earlier post that some group at the top of the US govt was harbouring arab terrorists on US soil.

The alternative could be that they were not terrorists against israel at all, and this phrase was just added to justify the watchlist.

Well, Teejay, I'm going to guess that the success of this had a lot to do with the commonality of their goals.

Lets get in the open that this was, of course, a conspiracy. Just not a mysterious one, likely.

One thing I know for a fact: the American people have been hoodwinked before. In major scams. By it's own government.

I'm sure there is something to that statement, but off hand, I can't place anything. What specifically do are you thinking of?

Btw, this would go a bit beyond the "scam" stage. Cold blooded massacre comes to mind. I think it is the flag manufacturing cartel.

Many US citizens seem to be unaware that foreigners coming to the US have to fill out a bizarre green immigration form, I-94W, with a row of about 10 checkboxes. Unfortunately I don't remember them too clearly, but (no joking!) two of the questions read almost literally like this:

    X) Are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities? [ ] yes [ ] no

    X) Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or terrorist activities? [ ] yes [ ] no

I think this makes it absolutely clear how the FBI knew about these terrorist activities :-)
