You're Anointed? Nooooooooo!

Dearest Pubsinger... peace to you... and may I respond? Thank you.

I am in complete agreement with you, that all 'christians' are 'anointed'. That is the very meaning of the word 'christians'... 'anointed ones'... or 'christ people'. And those who are NOT 'anointed', who have NOT yet received the promised holy spirit, are, in truth, NOT 'christians'. They have been misled. Doesn't matter whether they are 'holy ones'... fleshly Israel that accepted Shiloh as messiah... or those who 'go with' them... for ALL who left Egypt... Israelite and vast mixed company alike:

    Celebrated the Passover
    Passed through the Red Sea
    Ate the manna
    Drank from the rock-mass
And entered into the Covenant at Sinai

Regarding 1 John 5:1, however, the word there that is mistranslated to mean 'born', actually means 'generated', from the Greek word 'gennaro'. NONE of the 'seed of the woman', the 'child'... has yet been born... except the HEAD... our Lord. For we are all 'born'... at one time:

"Can a nation be born... in one day?"

"We the living who survive... will in NO way precede those who have fallen asleep."

"We the living... will, TOGETHER WITH THEM... be caught away to meet the Lord in the air..."

Just as we must enter into THIS world from the womb of our fleshly 'mothers', so, too, we must enter into THAT one, from the 'womb' of our SPIRITUAL 'mother'... Jerusalem Above... her 'womb' being the 'ark of the NEW Covenant'. But it is IN that covenant that we are 'fertilized'... by means of holy spirit... so as to be CONCEIVED... in 'righteousness'.

Thus, if we have received the promised holy spirit, we are being 'regenerated'... into a NEW creation... that will be placed NOT in 'earthen vessels'... flesh... but in 'celestial' vessels... spirit bodies. It is then, when we receive such 'incorrupt' bodies, and pass out of the womb (the ark of the NEW covenant) of our 'mother' (Jerusalem Above, the SPIRIT realms)... INTO the spirit realm... that we are 'born'... again.

I hope this helps. If so, my peace remains. If not, still... my peace remains.

    A slave of Christ,

    SJ

In 1995 i thought i became anointed. I believed i had a tremendous experience with jesus and god. A year later, when i was dfd, it was listed as one of my offences. I now view that spiritual experience as the 'door' that opened to the spiritual aspect of the universeI too believe everyone could have a similar awakening. I believe there are many ways to reach it.. I believe that spiritual growth can continue. It does not need to be hampered by theology or dogma, although care needs to be exercised.

    Aguest.

I think that you are just splitting hairs.

There are several phrases which basically mean the same thing:-
    Born again.
    Child of God.
    Giving ones life to Christ.
Asking Jesus to come into our life.
    Being saved.
Being part of the Body of Christ.
Someone who is part of Christ's church.

I think you are saying you are a Spirit filled Christian.
    I am too.

As for 1John5:1 I think that "born" is a perfectly acceptable transalation. The word used is in Strongs Concordance, word no. 1080.

The same word is used at John 3:3 and Acts 22:3 in two totally unrelated texts. Born is the correct transalation.

However, I see the point you are making. In the context of my original statement and in line with my believe in Christ as Lord there is nothing wrong in using the phrase "born again"

I have to go out now so I cant reply to an ything you post but I will read it and post later.

    Peace to you too.

    SS,

We had a situation in our congregation with the arrival of an ex-bethel boy (PO's detest it when they get one of those Prima Donnas!) who was a priggish pain in the bum.

He worked alongside me selling cleaning stuff from door to door, and for the first week was very succesful, although he was always broke. It turned out that he'd dropped his prices by 20% because he thought we were all making too much money!

A few months later he announced that he was anointed and became even more of a prat. He never got a servants job, much to his annoyance, last I heard he was congregation hopping all over the UK.

Just to add a point. I checked the references given by Awaiting, and also came up with the following in the same question from readers, along with a further point in the sub-refered article:

Wt January 15, 1952 P.62- "Questions from Readers"

According to the article "Hated for His Name" in the September 1, 1951, Watchtower, hundreds of thousands of Christians died in the "ten persecutions" starting in Nero's time, 144,000 dying in Egypt alone during one of the persecutions. How can this be harmonized with the Scriptural limitation of 144,000 placed on the number being in Christ's body, and which position was the only one open to Christians during those centuries?-J.A., Dominican Republic.

The article did not class with any finality the individuals that died during these persecutions, but spoke of the results in a general way. Note that a key qualification was made in the case referred to in the question: "In the province of Egypt alone, 144,000 such professed Christians died by violence in the course of this persecution, in addition to another 700,000 who died as a result of fatigues encountered in banishment or under enforced public works." The victims are identified as "professed Christians", not Christians in fact. Many of those persons might have been caught in the wave of persecution, but may never have actually preached the truth or followed in Jesus' footsteps, being only professed Christians. They knew the world they lived in was rotten and they were listening to the message of the Christians and willing to die for it even though not in line for the high calling in Christ Jesus. Many professed Christians today might be willing to die for their faith, but still not be Jesus' footstep followers and meeting the Scriptural requirements for such.

Wt September 1, 1951 P.516 - "Hated for His Name"

Brief respite followed the death of Nero, but by the latter years of the first century the second great persecution, under Emperor Domitian, flared up. It is said that in the year 95 alone some 40,000 suffered martyrdom.

I'm new here (not even a week-old), so I had missed the earlier posts until they were refered to, but I've got to stand up and be counted on this one - I, too, have received an anointing by Holy Spirit (fairly recently, infact). I've yet to get my head round posting my experience (with current events, etc.) but the key is Christ.
The Father draws, but the desire to be with Christ is undeniable. Further, the Spirit opens your eyes when you read certain scriptures regarding our Father.

I'm still a dub elder, post-1935 <g>, and now have a differant take on a number of scriptures that I thought I knew well. My thirst for the truth of God's word has become unquenchable, and I pray daily for the assistance of the "helper".
I can honestly say that it is truly humbling - hence the nik (a reference to how I feel within the "body" of Christ).

I would also add that I was brought up a dub, never did drugs, and (for the most part <g>) am a fairly well balanced individual (emotionally and mentally). Some here might question that, since I'm still a dub <g>, but I do my part to fight the corner of orphans, widows and those skinned and thrown about.

Above and beyond that, I must also reiterate that I love Marmite, and Guinness (so don't assume that it takes away your tastebuds or sense of humour - I've not become a bethel lawyer, or anything) <vbg>.

James penton said that the elders became 'enraged' that he claimed to be anointed. As some here know he was dfd.

I think Megadude is correct that those newly caliming to be Anointed are not believed. This is understandable because JWs are taught to view new claims of anointing with suspecion.

Interestingly the new GB appointees would fall into the category of those who are 'recent' additions (i.e. after 1935) to the 'Anointed'.

    Interesting, ain't it?

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

I had a virtually identical experience to SaintSatan. Reached a plateau, the universe opened up to me, it began to make sense that self-originating spirituality was sustainable.

The fact that the partaker numbers never broke below 8K was one of the most blatant slaps..

The wt doesn't believe its own theology of: faithfuldiscreetslave=governingbody=anointedones. What proves it is that the anointed gb has been rep;aced by nonanointed jws in those 4 new corporations that were formed. If fds=gb=ao was true and believed by wt, they would bring in anointed ones from the different congs to run the wt. Any anointed one at all, to the very least, if he/she is anointed could fill the gb shoes beause he/she is filled with 'jehovahs spirit'.

Either the wt doesn't believe that crock of shit, or they don't have faith in the mt25 fds dogma. Either way, they have abandoned ship.
