Raylo, you crack me up!
It wouldn't be so hard to change the policy. All that would have to happen is that the women rise up as one and start wearing slacks to the meeting. But, as Raylo points out so well, the worst finks are other "sisters".

JGnat:
You are so right about other sisters being finks. In my hall, practically all the criticism about dress was started by sisters who had a "problem" with other attractive women/girls in the congregation.
They made trouble even when the clothing wasn't immodest. It just had to be too "stylish" or cute. The ringleaders of trouble were older sisters who, because of age, weight, etc., could not wear the stylish, attractive dresses some of the other women or young ladies would wear.
Also, certain elders' matronly-looking wives were known to instigate a campaign of "special needs" talks and even some private admonitions to certain sisters who they perceived were dressing in a "revealing" way [rolls eyeballs].
They had to make trouble for these sisters just so they could feel better about themselves.

So are the women still being forced to wear skirts and dresses still?
Yes, but that's only until the New and Improved Dress Code comes into effect.
Each of these outfits will be handmade at Bethel using only the very finest polyester. In keeping with Paul's letter that women should not wear "outer garments", this outfit should also be worn to bed at night as well. Not only is it simple to wear, but it can also be used as a form of birth control as it greatly reduces sexual desire in Christian husbands. How grateful we should be that Jehovah has provided New Light for His faithful followers! Can anyone say that Jehovah is not blessing His Organization when He provides outfits such as this to our sisters?
Please place your orders with your Bookstudy conductor before the end of the month. Each sister will be accounted for just in case she "forgets" to order it.
Your loving brothers,
Gosh, Mary, a whole 'nother source of revenue for the WTS; ladies' tents. Actually, I'd prolly have liked to hide inside one of those things when out in servitude.
Actually, I might as well have worn one of those burka tents. I looked like somebody's gramma in long, dark skirts, long dark sweaters and low-heeled pumps. The PO's daughters dressed like that too. Gee, how appealing.
Other sisters had more fashion sense and a few were a bit excessive (according to Jdub standards) with short skirts, lower cut tops and stilletos, but nobody wore slacks to the main meetings. One other sister and I did when going to the afternoon bookstudy at the KH because we had to go straight from work. Got sorta "counseled" by a pioneer sis about that...not the bookstudy conductor, who was a very sweet older guy. The sis said that the worldly folks up in the subdivision on the hill that overlooked the KH could see us coming and going and it was a bad witness. God, like they'd even spend a second thinking about how the dumb dubs dressed.
I'm hopin they never change the policy..... cuz then us men will never get to see sneak shots of the ladies when they bend over and stuff. Just imagine if this gal below was wearin pants......you'd never see her cute little fanny.
The poor sap who's lookin at her is on the wrong side of the room......the big dummy.

NOW can we say a collective AMEN?

Yes anyone who takes the time out to go worship God in slacks after they get off from work is bound to go to straight to hell. Yep, I see the point of it being a bad witness. Nevermind that the ppl have real issues on their minds...Every time "worldly ppl" look out of their doors and see JW women with pants on near a hall they think "What blasphemy!" So yep, that sister had a point (which was.. never skip a day of your meds)
*sigh*
Raylo
I was off to the cornor shop last night, to buy my Thunderball lotto tickets, (which by the way, I won a total of one hundred and five pounds on! ) BUT, I saw a couple of women coming out of a house wearing long skirts and high heeled shoes! I started laughing and my husband wanted to know what was up with me now!!!! They just looked so totally JW! It was how I and my JW friends used to, and they still do, dress!
Whenever I see a woman in a pretty long, flowery skirt and high heels, I just 'see'JW!'
Me!!1 You wouildn't catch me dead in a long skirt now, unless I'm in 'total juiced out' hippie mode!
I always thought the no trousers rule for sisters was ludicrous when I was a dub, but I kind of understand why they do it.
It's because of those that would abuse it if they allowed trousers. Some would take it too far and not wear smart trousers but turn up to the kh in denim or combats or something really tight showing off the 'camel toe'.
Even though I'm not really religious now I'm df'd, I do think it's disrespectful to go into any place of worship wearing scruffy attire. That goes for men as well as women.
Good question.
Where I work it is all offices and a very professional area. One day I did a quick count and about 3/4 women wore trousers.
A friend of mine has been wearing trousers to the bookstudy as she comes straight from work and gets some really bad looks and is always required to justify herself.
but I kind of understand why they do it.

That's true..very much so..hahaha I can see somebody showing up with the pants Olivia Newton-John had on at the end of Grease (they literally had to sew her into the pants..lol)......but some sisters abuse the dress/skirts already... too tight, too short, denim skirts with combats, leather minis, high slits, plunging neck line. Soooo that same stuff they would have to council on for abuse of trousers, they currently already have to councel for dresses/skirts, no?
lol..I'm surprised no one had adopted a 'school uniform' to be used in the halls.
