I da'd rather than face a jc and, inevitably, being disfellowshipped, but I cannot see how the wts can justify 3 men having such power over an individual anyway.

It's not just the df'ing, it's what happens afterwards, the shunning, that really irks me. I see it as a cruel, inhuman act, especially as it is sanctioned by an organisation that prides itself on being based on brotherly love.

For accuracy sake, the announcement is, "So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses." The society no longer distinguishes the disfellowshipped from the disassociated, at least in the public announcement.

That statement is true. I left years ago but back in the day when I was told to make my first announcement that someone was df'd, the PO make sure that I worded it just as you stated. I'm sure it had to do with A) keeping the Society free of liability and B) limiting charges of slander against local elders.
