WTF?? Are you serious?! Holy crap, I never knew that....I knew they used to vote but I didn't realize it was based on bribery......geezus...Just when you think this religion can't shock you any further, they manage to surprise.
Almost exactly what I was thinking Mary. I thought I knew every stupid thing they said or did.

"Every $10 contributed to the Society entitled its donor to one voting share."
"When he died, of course, according to law, his votes died with him."
What law says that when a person dies that their voting shares in a corporations dies along with them?
If this is true, then why did Charles Russell think he could bequeath (transfer through a will) his voting shares? Wouldn't he have known the law concerning such matters? Who was his adviser, Rutherford?

*** w93 1/15 p. 5 'Caught Away to Meet the Lord'-How? ***
When a foreign head of State visits a country, the dates of his presence there are generally announced. This has been true of the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Watchtower has consistently presented evidence to honesthearted students of Bible prophecy that Jesus' presence in heavenly Kingdom power began in 1914
and later in 1993
*** jv chap. 28 p. 632 Testing and Sifting From Within ***
Based on the premise that events of the first century might find parallels in related events later, they also concluded that if Jesus' baptism and anointing in the autumn of 29 C.E. paralleled the beginning of an invisible presence in 1874, then his riding into Jerusalem as King in the spring of 33 C.E. would point to the spring of 1878 as the time when he would assume his power as heavenly King. .

*** w74 8/15 p. 507 No Spiritual "Energy Crisis" for Discreet Ones ***
Hence, when C. T. Russell began publishing a new religious magazine in July 1879, it was called "Zion's Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence." It was heralding Christ's presence as having begun in 1874.

So it really wasn't a democratic method of decision-making; it was plutocracy.
Amazing.

Re,
Seems like the more you learn, the more you burn....................with anger. The problem is facts are facts, unless you are talking to an active J.W.

When I read stuff like this, it makes it even more of a mystery to me as to how I ever got duped into becoming a jw. They're not as bad as other religions, they're 100 times worse.

I would love to bring this kind of information up to some JWs if they come to my door to distribute their stupid tract; I wonder how they would reply to a lot of this stuff. There is no end to the lies and deceit of this organization. Just makes me sick.
