    Hi restrangled,

That seems to be from wirefiles, not reexamine.org; is it the same site? And I don't see the name of the book from which chapter 2 is from, not even on the scan.

Bebu, I'm sorry. The site is www. reexamine.org, the name of the book is called Jehovah's witnesses in the Divine Purpose page 64 chapter 11. It was written in 1959

    Hope this is more helpful.

WOW! That is incredible! I cannot believe the corruption you find out about after you leave. Its just big business is all. Makes you feel used and abused. I am sometimes embarrassed that I bought into it.

I don't think it was corrupt the way the Society was organized under Russell. After all the Society was nothing more than a corporation, a publishing house. The corruption came under Rutherford who turned the publishing house into God's channel.

It should be noted that every congregation in Russell's day was an independent class. and that the members of that congregation voted for their own elders, deacons, etc. That was of course done away with under Rutherford, and elders were appointed by the Society, a practice still in place today.

I think there are instances where Russell referred to himself or the WT as a prophet or inspired )"We believe these are Gods dates not ours"), however he did not have the hubris and dishonesty of Rutherford in manipulating the business/congregations, etc. If Russells vision had held, it would have been a much smaller, if not extinct, organization.

Hello!!! All of this is quite interesting.

A fact that needs to be added here is that when the corporation was first founded Russell did not own the majority of the voting shares.

The result of his lesser investment??? He was not the first president of the corporation. His business partner who invested $5,000.00 more than he did was the first president.

When Rutherford did the hostile takeover some people continued as International Bible Students and that group still exists in some form.(Goggle it up) Rutherford quickly made changes. By the 1930's the change to a new religion was almost complete.

They should have been called Rutherfordites, but no!!!! They called themselves JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!!

The [[[APOSTATES]]] from International Bible Students!!!!

    Thanks restrangled!

I'm not familiar with that particular book. Is it a JW history book of sorts? Interesting that they would admit to business methods for voting in the leadership of a "spirit directed" organization.

This post shows all the more reason to keep the issues to the front. I know for myself, when I first started searching this site, when I came across a post that was JW bashing, it made me cringe. I know there are many who have been hurt terribly by this organization, so I can see where they are coming from. I too, am experiencing the wrath of shunning by immediate family. But, I think it's important for new lookers to see this site is also about information. There is a world of information all of us have been denied. Maybe not denied, but the way information is put together in the publications, unless its together, you don't realize what's being said. It's hard to find information when the cd roms only go back so far, and for a reason. Anyway, research is painful for sure, to think what you once held so dear, willing to die for the belief, is a lie. But thankfully, posters on this board have and are having a tremendous effect for the good. Thanks to you all.

So when they got 1 vote for every $10.00 donated, who kept track of the donations??? Do you think they kept accurate records?
