How bittersweet. I read all of your letter- it is so very well written and I truely hope that your friend takes the time not only to read it but to think on everything you addressed.

Your last time there with your friend in the coffee shop was very heart-rending. Bittersweet- I hope that you guys will be able to talk again.

I'm thinking of you Jeff. 40 years as a JW carries with it a lot of history. Hopefully he will really think about what you wrote. Perhaps one day he will be out the door also.

Be kind to yourself and do some fun things. By posting your experience you have helped others perhaps to take that step. I commend you for the loving manner in which you dealt with your departure.

I know it wasn't easy to finally do this. But the way you have done it, in large measure due to being able to vent, could have incredibly far-reaching impacts. The fact that he said he would hold the door open for you proves he doesn't think you are wicked. This must have been already troubling him, anyway, that they were conspiring to remove you as a wicked man.

Perhaps he will read it now. Perhaps when he hears of your letters, he will read it. Perhaps when he has to answer the questions of whoever else reads your letter, perhaps then he will read it. And who knows who else might read it?

You have done the most you can, you have offered a chance, you have shown a way out. Who could ask any more from you, even that was more than required. You have every reason to be proud.

This weekend I noticed a greater sense of life and freedom than I have felt before. I think I really needed this closure, though I thought I didn't.

You deserve to have peace and freedom, especially with the sacrifices you are making personally to take care of your grandchildren. I'm sl glad you aren't giving the jerk elder that kind of power over you. Big hugs to you. Take care.
