The bottom line is that it's all about the lack of love. When JWs figure out that "love" is NOT the identifying mark of a JW or of the leadership, they become disillusioned and depressed and stop giving their all. But too often, they feel they really do not have a "place to go". So they stay in and go thru the motions for years. Today's typical Witness is what we would've considered and labeled as "weak" or "immature", years ago. This is the new Witness. These are now the "strong ones".....Ha!

One of the bigger problems the WTS has, and will continue to have, is the lack of true feedback channels and then making changes to better the entire organization according to that feedback. It seems that the only feedback bethel *might* listen to is from the DO's and CO's. Hardly a true measurement of "happiness" in the org. As with most large corporations today, many of them have instituted some sort of rating/feedback program to show where the company and it's managers can improve in certain areas. And as with all companies, if the employees are not happy, their work quality suffers which in turn brings down the overall quality of the product that the company sells/provides.
This is not how you run a business:
- Promise to "pay" employees once with a lump sum paycheck[paradise] if they stick around with the company until death.
- Tell employees that they must pay for the building in which they work out of, but will never have ownership in.
- The company will label employees as lazy and will take away their "perks" if they do not cold call for at least 10 hours per month on their own time and at their own expense.
- The employees must relearn their sales material on their own time regardless if it has already been sold before and they knew what it contained.
- The best "commission" a sales rep can expect to gain is to give an exagerated sales story at either a circuit or district sales conference(name recognition).
- When more "perks" are given to a sales rep, the less personal time they have for family or other matters.
- If an employee feels that the product which the company is selling is harmful to the public, he basically has two choices: One, he can quit and lose everything including his family and friendships, or he can become a whistleblower which ultimately leads to the same conclusion as the first.
- The company will immediately terminate you for insubordination or if you question its headquarters policies over labor practices.
- If you decide to sue your employer for whatever reason, chances are the government will side with the employer 95% of the time, regardless of fault.
- and many many more....

I was reading an interesting article in Foreign Relations booklet of octobre 2006 about the impact of protestant religion on US foreign policy. I found it interesting because it seemed that eveangelical protestantism shows to be more alive and tends to have more commitment to become a force for change than other strands of protestantism.
What is being discussed here in this thread, is that JWism is dead in the water. I do not consider that odd since JW´s themselves have in majority acknowledged that they are not part of human society....(DC resolution 2006 How mind dumbing is it going to get? Wouldn´t it be nice if at a resolution part, the majority of the audience would remain silent? Wow!)
So, not beng interested in the life in the outside world.....not interested in the life on the inside.............."save me from the nothing I have become"? yeah!
We are looking at a zombi, guys.
Cheers

Hi Metatron:
I agree with your comments or the brother's comments.
The WTS' doctrines and ways are just not working anymore.
Too many JWs realize they used precious years of their lives devoted to an organization that is not even blessed or directed by God. Instead of concentrating also on their finances (ie.: college, career choices) etc...............they devoted themselves with no financial back-up for the future.
The WTS governing body members, etc. no longer have the spiritual, physical, and financial hold on their members as in the past.

DoubtingBro:
You mention bad treatment by elders and pioneers and how they are held up as examples. That is the problem. They are "held up" as examples. How sad for these little people who think a stupid title (given by a man) means anything or makes them anything.
I have long felt the congregation is actually a dangerous place to be. You are told to "widen out" but you don't know what you are widening out to. In all likelihood you will be left reeling from a bad experience from one of these phony christians.
There is an unaccountability that runs through the whole thing from top to bottom. These people actually feel because they are doing this "work" they are somehow excused for the bad they do and everybody else is required to forgive them. Either that or they expect to die an "Adamic death" and therefore will be forgiven for whatever they do - no matter what. So too bad about you! They could swindle somebody, molest a child, you name it! It doesn't matter because I suspect, deep down inside, they don't believe any of it and don't expect to ever be punished or accountable. If they did, how could they do what they do?? Don't they even think or believe Jehovah sees??
The faulty belief system is responsible for much of the bad there.

I have often remarked to fading Witness friends that this is far more important to many JWs than the doctrine. The doctrine isn't understood by many. And many sisters I know admit privately that they are not in for the doctrines, but for the social network. So as the "love" decreases they are saying: "What's left?" Many of them have to work, have ailments, children and other responsibilities and can't understand why the Society keeps making demands of them. One sister tells me that this is a "ten year" religion. Meaning that one can only keep the sense of urgency rfor about ten years before "burnout" sets in. And so these folks are just dissappearing.

Love among themselves.
Remember, the definition of love that most JW's understand is the opposite of real love. They believe that when their Jehovah murders people, it is an act of love. They believe that when the gov bod and elders berate people and make them feel woefully inadequate (no matter how hard they are trying), that that is love. They believe that shunning people is equal to showing them love. They believe that turning their backs on "weak" ones, is the same as loving them. They believe that judging people by their works, no matter what their extenuating circumstances are, is showing them love.
Only those individuals, that can't swallow the society's definition of love, who actually remember and take to heart 1John 4:8, will wake up due to the lack of love.

"Lack of Love," in the KH was the main factor in my leaving the dubs, that and the ever-present hypocrisy. The doctrinal part was easy, because I accepted and believed in the FDS & the GB...I, like most dubs, was simply a wind-vane to the WTS's ever changing winds of dogma.
The "lack of love" was the thing that woke me up and shook my foundations of belief...leaving then, was a natural progression from the anger of knowing I had been lied to and betrayed.
