The only things I could find that I would raise question about is the studies on child abuse and elders planting microphones. And on those I would ask for proof, not criticize it. I will say this, I have been an elder for many years. Worked heavily on a Regional Building Committee in a large American city. I can assure you that many Halls populated by African-American friends get neglected. Whereas Halls that are almost new get renovated because of the fact that most brothers with responsibility on RBC come from middle class neighborhoods. And they make sure that their Halls get top priority. At one project I was with one of my best friends who just happens to be African-American. He gave an opinion to the RBC. He was more qualified than them or I in that particular field. They deliberately brushed him off. It was obvious. Later on I made the identical suggestion and the same people thought it was wonderful. Was it my light skin? Who knows. But I have seen this sort of thing repeated over and over again in this organization. And as for those quotes, they are accurate. Shameful though they are. Those quotes are one of the strongest reasons to prove that the WT Society could not have been chosen in 1919. They make a big deal that they stopped celebrating some holiday, while printing such abominable crap as what this author quoted. Its one thing to make a mistake on some obscure passage out of Daniel, but racism? I don't think so. tsof

    Greetings,

The problem is that the author sets forth the premise that Jehovah's Witnesses (organization) is a rascist organization today. His premise is poorly supported. Not only are the quotes he provided not reflective of today's organization or attitude, they themselves are not evidence of systemic racism or evidence of the general or specific attitudes towards race of the individual Jehovah's Witness. As we all know, the publications are created by a select few and the vast majority of Witnesses have no input into what is written. So it is pure folloy to make a general attibution based upon such sparse quotations.

As for the integration issues the author mentions occurring in the 70s in some areas, even if true, this is not only reflective of society at large it also ignores the fact that in other areas integration occurred rapidly, even earlier than in some areas or in other churches. Also it ignores the fact that the Society has long reached out with missionaries etc. to African countries, etc.

Today, Jehovah's Witnesses have a high percentage of inter-racial couples among them -- a sure indication that racism is not a cultural trait. Additionally, Jehovah's Witnesses are among the world's largest international religions.

These things show conclusively that the whole claim that today's Jehovah's Witnesses are racist is completely bogus.

As for the author's other points, there is some validity in the issue of cultural assimilation, but this is not racist itself and doesn't support his claims of racism. The other points are wildly irrelevant to the racism claim.

Bottom line is the guy is full of crap and sadly those who don't really know the culture of Jehovah's Witnesses may be misled about the facts.

Well, LeahJasmine whoever you are....it sounds like it's time you opened your eyes!!

I've just read the said article and it seems pretty clear to me that he's not a liar.

But i don't think racism is by any means your greatest worry. Start digging, if you have an unprejudiced heart.

    Peace

I would say that overt racism is rarely encountered.

Prejudice, however, is defintely found among witnesses. I have personally seen this myself.

Racial prejudice knows no boundaries and is not limited to any one religion.

LeahJasmine racism is alive and well in the WTS , why did it take so long for you to see a black G/B member?

Rutherford was an abusive , sexist , racist, the deeper you dig on this the more you will be shocked.

Leah , trust me he is not a lunatic, probably saner than the lot of us.
