I understand your feelings and reasons, although you do not need our approval or understanding to leave. You are leaving for your best interests, and I bet it was not that easy.
I understand what you mean when you say the board is evil. I don't believe in demons in the traditional sense either, but many persons here are hurt in a way many people would never understand and I feel this is the reason why many of us are the way we are.
I hope you find what you are looking for, please know you have encouraged me to do the same. I will miss you very much.

But, personally speaking, there is nothing 'evil' about this board.
If there is, the only way to solve it is to fight it.
But my disagreement with your opinion won't stop me missing your humour and humanity, and hoping you will return.

Didn't you leave this board before, not too many months back, with great flair, and in a huff, and never to return... only to return a week or so later?
Why would you urge others to leave this board?
I have to say honestly to you that if you really care about me and the things I stand for and wish for this world and for all of you, you will leave this board forever.
This board, of Simon's creation has done a World of Good, has helped untold numbers of people, given timid lurkers vital information, has helped causes to protect children (SilentLambs) and I predict will be instrumental in finally bring down the Kult.
And then to make the charge:
There is an evil power controlling this board.
Pure evil is behind these posts. Responding to them helps the evil grow.What in the world has gotten into you, man?

You've made much of your homosexuality on this board,
(although I've never understood how that was relative to the purpose of this board)
and I read an interesting report a few days after the 9/11 disaster about a young
man who was a passenger on Flight 93 - the one which departed Newark, heading for San Francisco - and in the article it emphasized his homosexuality and that he was a champion rugby player and very athletic...
but the overall point I think the article was making was that he was one of the group of passengers who 'stared evil in the face' and decided to band together and fight it, and fight they did. The plane crashed, but it now turns out that their brave actions probably saved MANY lives as that plane was targeted for the White House or the Capitol.He was on the cell phone with his mother and one of the last things he told her, was that he had to go - that he and several other passengers had decided to fight the hijackers. I admire that guy and the small band he was with, to no end!
So, why don't you imitate his example and if you think there is evil behind this board, even controlling this board, (having hijacked this board?) then, the only way to go, is not to run, but stay, stand and fight it.

Maybe it's not Joel's battle to fight - a very loving person once told me that personal beliefs should be accompanied by responsibility and often times we has humans forget that.
I am guilty of feeling that with my personal freedom it allows me to say what is on my mind without regards to the feelings of others, although sometimes with this it is hard to face the responsibility for my actions - even when I feel it is justified because I was attacked or people I care about were attacked. Anger and lashing out is inappropriate and hurtful and "feeding the trolls" just adds fuel to the fire. His goodbye post is proof positive that there are some on this board who are so negative their sole purpose is to tear down and not up build.
Did we forget why we all came here? We came here to find solace within each other as a group of people who needed one another. Instead, many have turned bitter, and I have been guilty of that a time or two myself. What does bickering really solve? Nothing at all.
