Do you truly WANT the Watchtower to collapse? If so why?

The watchtower cult is not the only place where liars, thieves, and abusers flourish. I've worked for employers who tried to be a lot more controlling than the watchtower. I quit those jobs but those companies still exist, and most, unfortunately, are doing very well. If the watchtower collapsed tomorrow abuse would still take place. If all religions collapsed abuse would still take place. Whether or not the watchtower collapses has no effect on me any more. I'm already out. My mother is still a JW, but her manipulative nature was there long before she ever heard of the watchtower. It would still be there if the cult was gone.

If the WTS collapses, it will do so because of member attrition or financial catastrophe (lawsuits/lack of funding). That will leave its remaining followers with the choice of growing up or finding another and perhaps even more harmful cult to join. I'm not sure whether I'd want that to happen. As Lilly noted, it would cause much suffering.

Instead of the WTS collapsing, I'd prefer to see it get rid of its deadly blood policy and make other beneficial changes so its followers could live relatively normal, happy lives. But I don't believe that will happen.

Just like any organization or person who rapes, pillages, lies, deceives, destroys souls, families, marriages and homes...they should be punished.

No organization, "religious" or not, should be allowed to continue to do what they do to people. I want them to fall and fall HARD.

Anybody in there who is a Christian will find somewhere else to worship. It will happen so gradually tho that there will be dissemination that you cant even see unless, like us, you are watching it closely.

    DOWN WITH THE EVIL TOWER!!!

I know the Organization Behind the Name "Jehovah's Witnesses" and I know its strengths and weaknesses. I can have maximum impact on that organization, simply because I know it. The fact that it has damaged me (and continues to damage me through my family) in no way makes my efforts a matter of revenge.

I support AuldSoul's viewpoint. I also want to add that there are good people caught in the cult.
I would love to free, not only my family, but many of my good friends, and all others from the effects of this cult.

I suppose that, if they totally abandoned their cult views (Governing Body is directed by God, shunning, the end
is imminent, recruitment tactics) then they would just be another mainstream religion. Who would care if they
stuck around then? That will never happen, so just as a former Moonie would love to help others out, I would
    love to help JW's out.

Since my fading is for selfish reasons, I doubt that I will ever become a zealous anti-JW, but if I were DF'ed, I
am certain that I would take a more active role in exposing this cult as dangerous.

Why do we want the Watchtower to fall but do not wish all religion to fall?

I would imagine that reason, at least for me, is personal experience, though npt personal revenge per se. I have personally been and seen others affected. I would imagine that my desire to see the end of this cult would be focused on whatever actual cult I had been in, but it happens, in my case, to have been Jehovah's Witnesses.

On a broader stroke - Christian religion in general, while perhaps less than ideal, perveys a general sense of community without strings attached. I could elect to attend any church in my area, and decide to leave without pain of 'disfellowshipping' and loss accompanied. I would be allowed to build a personal friendship and not have it shattered by my decision that it was not for me. Cults do not afford that luxury - it is all in or all out thinking. Jehovah's witnesses are not alone - but they are among the worse.

I would like to see the wts forced to change it's more harsh policies, like shunning and the ridiculous 2 - witness rule that has condemned so many kids to suffer unnecessary abuse, and it's more controversial rules, like the blood policy.

I wouldn't mind seeing it implode, but I would fear for the future of some of it's followers, who might well fall prey to even worse cults if the wts was no longer around to run their lives for them.
