R6Laser: They are in it because they want to be in. The sooner you realize that the better for you.

Next time I am feeling suicidal, remind me not to call you. You would likely advise that I am committing suicide because I want to commit suicide; you realize it is my choice and you are okay with it.

Why do they want to be in the religion? The answer is in the question they inevitably ask, "Where would we go away to?" They don't know enough to make an informed choice, they are intentionally kept ignorant through an elaborate system of lies and misdirection.

As I said, you are very naive.

Exactly AS. The watchtower are so adept at information control, and such smooth operators when it comes to presenting rehashed information slightly tweaked as "new light", that it's very difficult, although not impossible, for the average dub to even realise they are being controlled. Only a major catastrophe within the wts would get probably the majority of jws to think about what they are really involved in. Stuff like the UN, child abuse, doctrinal changes etc don't even scratch the surface of their consciousness, because the wts are so good at hiding the real facts behind the facade of lies they have created. Only a news event that they couldn't control would have any real effect on the majority of the r & f.

Your naive statements reflect both an uncaring, and dismissing attitude about these people. It may be a hope in vain that they will someday, somehow, get out of that cult intact. But it is a hopeful position to take, instead of the old lazy 'get on with life' attitude that displays absolute selfishness, and disregard for other's pain.

Some, when having overcome cancer themselves, are willing to just dismiss all others who suffer from the disease, since they are in remission. Others devote life and energy to the eventual elimination of the disease that so negatively altered their lives. Which is the noble action in your opinion?

Yes, I want to see the Watchtower collapse, but not for the reasons as many -- I need new chandeliers for my hut, and I could get a good bargain on their lavish lights. Then I could tell all of you (those bitter and those sympathetic) - "I have the new light."

Do you truly WANT the Watchtower to collapse? Yes!

If so why? Because I do! (This is called Watchtower reasoning. You won't get a straight answer until I receive new light - which could take 100 years).

I'll pick up an extra chandelier for you at the disposal sale, and you won't have to wait 100 + years.

    Cheers!

Do I truly want the Watchtower to collapse? I dont truly want to much of anything nowdays. I find life less stressful and more peacefull when I limiit my emotional attachment to things. If the Watchtower collapsed, it would bring a smile to my face in passing and that would be pleasant information.

Yes, to expose them for what they really are and to free their slaves.

If by naive you mean telling it like it is then I prefer to be naive rather than bitter and miserable. The only difference between your example is that those people usually want and need the help. Those that are still in this cult most don't want help and aren't asking for help. They are on it because they want to be in it. You can call it brainwashing, or stupidity but the fact is that if they wanted to leave all they had to do was leave and nothing else.

Bottom line, call me naive or lazy I don't care about trying to change peoples minds who don't want to change in the first place. Now, if they were to show signs of wanting to get out of course I would help. Otherwise I won't turn into a bitter person just because I can't change their views over the wts.
