Does God communicate with you?

People with cerrtain types of mental illmess cannot distinguish between reality and delusion. They believe that what they perceive is real. Such people claim that they hear voices and see things, but what such persons experience no matter how real it seems to them is only mental ilness. People that use certain drugs too halucinate and too what they experience seem very real. THen there are the religious nuts and also the liars Does this mean that one has to be crazy or on drugs to communicate with God? Jws allege that they have "a relationship with God". I think that a relationship invloves communion between parties. A person can talk or pray to a walll but he cannot have a relationship with it. Only if God responds or communicates in some unmistkable remarkable way with a person can that person really have such a relationship. I do not believe that the substance of the Bible or religious affiliation is sufficient to convince an intelligent and rational person without a doubt in the existence of God.

In other terms, I am convinced that God answers prayer. When a person talks to God it is called prayer. When God communicates in some way, it is called an answered prayer. There are many coincidences that happen but if lightning strikes in the exact same place multiple times that is no coincidence. I believe that God will unmistaikingly convince the individual in a very special and personal way.

That is what I think, but then again what do I know?

I think you have describe most of the people who have claimed to have communicated with God! If someone claims this today we call it mental illness, but what did they call it in bible times......prophets!

I would totally agree with you KERJ except that today people cannot prove it. If they could, they would not be crazy. According to the Bible, those prophets did prove their claims again and again and again to nations and to kings beyond any doubt. According to the Bible, in ancient times God not only communicated with prophets but also to Kings, whole nations, and even God's enemies. I am not arguing that the Bible states facts but what I am saying is that in line with the claims of people on ancient times, also recorded in the Bible is the striking evidence. Those claimants were not judged as crazy. They were able to prove their claims.

God just told me to pour myself a stiff drink.

I did as He requested and as a reward for my godly obedience He has blessed me. I feel good.

    Kudra,

Yeah but god's stiff one got to be the stiffest one you ever get, they say no ever refuses a stiff one from god and lives to tell about it. Look what happened to Lot's wife.

Ok I'll bite.....ummmm, sorry but most of the prophets were not able to prove their claims at the time, that is why they call it prophesying. So beyond that point these ones were not a well liked group! Normally they were not excepted into the Jewish Society at the time, since they were usually telling everyone that they were bad and going to be destroyed! So the mainstream would just lable them as nuts.

But you are looking at the Bible in the eyes of faith, I am looking at it with the eyes of reality. The world I live in people that make these claims do have a mental illness. Just because it was written down a long time ago doesn't change the fact that these ones may think they have talked to God, but in reality it was just in their head!

Even the Society says that prophecy is understood fully, only after the event!

Kudra anytime you need a stiffy just call!!

Kerj, There are 2 aspects to the prophets. Their prophecies and their credentials. Although some prophecies were future to those they spoke to, Bible states that God directly or through the prophets communicated with people proving that God was communicating.
