2007 District Convention "Follow the Christ!" (page 2)

It's true that Jesus as presented in the Bible isn't what the dubs teach and they certainly follow men instead. However, they talk about Jesus all the time, in meetings, service, etc etc. As far as the average dub is concerned Jesus is the head of their organization. They are Jesus freaks in their opinion. Even though we know that isn't true, they don't. A Convention with this title will help reinforce the rank and file in believing that they believe in Jesus.

The theme for the 2007 District Conventions is "Follow the Christ!"

That's kinda strange for them to choose that. I remember "Give God Glory" and "Pure Language". Never seen the word "Christ" in their convention titles before.

I have been reading older WT publications lately and I noticed this:

The Christ

consists of

Jesus--the Head of the Christ

144,000--the Body of the Christ

So that The Christ is made up of 2 parts. So when the WTS says follow The Christ, they really mean follow "Christ's earthly representatives" the anointed, the remnant, the FDS (faithful and discreet slave), the governing body (GB).

This, then, is the "sorer punishment" to which the Apostle refers. This penalty of death without any hope of a recovery will be inflicted also upon those of the world at large who, during their time of trial in the next Age, shall wilfully disobey the voice of God speaking through the great Mediator of the New Covenant—TheChrist, Head and Body—Jesus and His Church.

Then there is the present spiritual Body of Christ, composed of the spirit-begotten new nature of the New Creatures in the Christ Company dwelling in these earthly tabernacles and seeking to bring them to the sacrificial point in every respect day by day.

Also the WTS/FDS/GB teaches that Jesus can only be reached through the FDS.

Jehovah still uses his Son, the "head of the congregation," to teach his servants on earth. (Ephesians 5:23; Isaiah 54:13; John 6:45) Jehovah also uses his spirit to instruct his people. (John 15:26; 1 Corinthians 2:10) And just as Jesus used "his slave John" to communicate sustaining spiritual food to the first-century congregations, so today he uses "the faithful and discreet slave," made up of his anointed "brothers" on earth, to give his domestics and their companions spiritual "food at the proper time." (Matthew 24:45-47; 25:40) Happy are those who recognize the Source of the ‘good gifts’ we receive in the way of spiritual food and the channel He is using.—James 1:17.

I meant to post this information the other week when I got my KM. The Dec KM has the announcement about the DC. No real information, just the ususal do's & don'ts (like no one has ever made hotel reservations - pretty insulting). I was shocked by the title as well because Jesus is never the focus of any DC that I can remember. I was actually thinking that maybe there would be a move back to giving proper honor to Jesus.

However, Blondie just taught me something I didn't know (thanks). The Christ = Jesus & the 144k. I'm stunned. I always got the feeling that they were slowly but surely evlating the FDS to a postion above Jesus, not realizing they already thought they were equal. How on earth can they get away with this?

If they reinforce this point at the DC, it will complete the circle. The sad thing is that many JWs won't even notice.

Just when I think the WTS can't do another thing that surprises me......they DO!

The sad thing IS....that they are not leaning more towards the proper and acceptable CHRISTIAN beliefs about Christ....but still clinging to (or inventing) more of their own peculiar teachings when all is said and done.....that NOTHING at all has changed. What pompous and arrogant frauds!
