This is in response to Msmcduckit. Your post reminded me of something I hadn't thought about in years. When I graduated nursing school and was working in the coroners office, one of the coroners was a young petit black woman. I am a tall white guy, sometimes when we would speak with law enforcement about something we found or they had questions they would address me and I would tell them look she is the coroner I am just her assistant you should have seen some of the looks from them. Sometimes it pissed her off and rightly so, but being the dutiful dub I took the opportunity to preach to her and that seemed to help some. She left the department before I did and went into teaching. I learned so much from her and a very sharp lady. So I think not only race discrimination but in that field at that time gender as well.
