I was at Target the other day and bought the DVD The Da Vinci Code. While I saw it before the DVD release and thought it was an okay movie, I didn't think it was outstanding and there are not too many movies that I care about watching over and over enough to run out and buy it; so in this case it was impulsive buying. One reason to stay out of the stores Friday after Thanksgiving where the stores are competing against each other buy having huge sales on the electronics.

You can take it back right away. When you do that, go in to the service desk and don't go into the rest of the store, for ANYTHING. It's worth the trip to get rid of the impulse buy, then you can laugh the next time you have reason to cook more than 1 hot dog. Hot dogs can be boiled or microwaved or just stuck on a fork over the burner.

I bought a juicer. Not that there's anything wrong with a juicer - cleanup just takes too long, so I rarely use the thing.

I buy bargain books impulsively. I think "it's only $4.98, go ahead get it. You deserve it." That's how I ended up buying at least 10 books this year that I haven't read yet.

OH Purbs, I have a brother who is impulsive about sales items. The other day he walked in with a case of Hilo cookies very sheepishly. He had to do it, it was on sale. He has greasless cookers, bread bag carriers, wine openers and some of the gosh darndest strange stuff all because it is on sale. I think if he is addicted. So the kids and I just laugh a good portion of the time. His favorite thing is kitchen gadgets. I got to go look and see if he got a hot dog cooker also. lol

    Hi Purple Sofa:

You call that being a big spender?? Ha, ha. I would make you blush with what I spend on clothes, makeup and jewelry.

Don't feel guilty if you splurge once in a while. As long as other bills aren't being neglected and your kids (if you have any) aren't going hungry.

I went out Christmas shopping last Sunday for my son and I bought some 500 thread count sheets for me that were on sale (plus I had a 20% off coupon that I used). I hadn't planned on buying them but they were such a good deal . . .
