ok, ive been trying to work out this one for a while, so please just put up with me if i make no sense whatsover....

Over nearly the last year or so i havnt been to any meetings at all, i realised that all things JW is a big money making lie that is destroying peoples lives. After leaving the JWs i started to question the bible (as most probably do). I researched inteligent design and evolution, and put them on an even playing ground so i could get a proper view of everything without my old 'Watchtower goggles' on that seemed to stop me from seeing anything else but the friggin' organisation.

Personaly i beleive we were created by something/someone, and to me the universe is to big and to complicated to have just happened by chance. But that doesnt mean that i beleive the bible, the problem i have is what do i do now? if i think there is some kind of supreme being is he good or evil?

It seems that he would have to be evil, because what kind of good being lets horrible things happen (im not going to mention what, but you know what im talking about).

Should i pay any respect to something that lets these things happen? sure i have a good life, but thats not the point, im not thinking about me, im thinking about all the millions of other people that are starving to death, the kids that knew nothing but pain for their entire existance, the mothers that had to watch the most precious thing in their life suffer.

Where is god when this happens?

I know people that beleive in the bible will say that there is a purpose for all of this, but can you really justify it? here is an example i told my Dad to get my point accross on why i think the bible is unfair...

Bruce has 2 dogs (a male named Rosco and a female named Shelly), Bruce just baked a nice meat pie for dinner, he puts the pie on the bench to cool down before he eats it, he then leaves the kitchen and goes to watch some TV.

Now Rosco and Shelly know how they are not supposed to each food of the bench, and they know that they will get into big trouble, theyve done it before and they learned their lesson.

But Rosco and Shelly make the mistake of jumping up onto the bench and eating half of the meat pie.

Now Bruce has finished watching TV and decides to go and eat his dinner, but he soon realises that his dogs ate it! So he puts them outside and makes them live the rest of their days in the backyard instead of sleeping at his feet on the end of his bed.

But something else happens... Rosco and Shelly get pregnant, and because Bruno is still very upset with them he waits untill they have their puppies and takes them away...

Bruce puts each of the puppies into tiny cages, barely big enough for them to blink an eyelid, he gives them only just enough dirty water and food to keep them alive, he also pokes and prods each of the puppies through the cages and torments them all day long, but he does all of this in front of Rosco and Shelly.

Bruce does all of this because the two dogs stole one pie of the bench, he does it because from that one mistake the dogs offspring have to pay for something they have nothing to do with. (instead of just punishing Rosco and Shelly).

Now i know thats a bit far fetched and everything, but you get the general idea, this is what i dont get, why (according to the bible) are we dealing with problems from our ancestors from thousands of years ago? why is that even remotely sane?!

I dont see any kind of logic behind it, it would make more sense to just let Adam and Eve finish their lives and then start again wouldnt it?!

This is what really confuses me, what is the pooint to anything to do with life?! why?! sure its good (to me, not everyone), but what happens after you die!? This is all getting me really confused and im sure im not the only one....

Anyway thank you for reading, and sorry about the outburst, i just needed to clear my head....

I wouldn't p*ss on the god of the bible if he were on fire and eternal life was the prize for putting his sorry *ss out. And that my dear friends is how I really feel.

where is god? He hangs out at the jail I work at. 90% of the inmates have found him.

Hello Sam, seriously, I agree with your points and analogy, I have had the thoughts myself. When you get the answers to your questions. I probaly wont want to hear them because then you will return to the religious fanatic mode.

I will want to here them but they probably wont make sense to me. I have been looking for answers to your questions all my life. My search has been enhanced since 1995 and access to the internet. I've never been able to get all my ducks lined up in a row or all my trains in the station on this one. There are various theories and holes can be poked in all of the theories I've encountered. They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Maybe students like me will not be ready till the day I die. Because I dont get it and I am looking. But the again maybe I do get it and that is that it can not be had. Man can not have the answers to these mysterious questions of where and who is God and where did we come from and where are we going. Sometimes I think we are all spirit children of God or even part of God who get bored in the spirtit world and come to earth the pleasure planet for a vacation. Its kind of like an amusement park here where some of us get scarred to death and some die of boredom. As far as all the pain in suffering maybe they are reincarnating for previously evil lives or maybe they are nothing more than an illusion for us. My life has been good for the most part. I try not to bring myself down any more than I have to thinking about all the sufferning and inhumanity in this world. I could ruin my day thinking of all the starving children and miss treated animals and animals that are bred to be eaten and animals that get eaten by other animals. For another perspective on what might be going on check out David Ickes, "Children of the Matrix"

God does not exist. Prove that God does exist. I can't prove that God does not exist and I can't prove that God does exist. Can you? Your question is based on a belief that there is a God. If you believe this, then the burden of prove is on you to answer your own question.

From that perspective, as Stendhal put it, "God's only excuse is that he doesn't exist".

But is it the only perspective?

Perhaps some sort of "god," however named, makes sense from within suffering which doesn't make sense when we think of suffering from the outside, as it were.

A God whom you cannot love and respect isn't worth your worry and time. Not even if he/she/it were "true". Maybe you'll find your god somewhere along the way, maybe not. Walk and see.

I don't agree with this statement anymore, but suppose YOU are right.
Why would you necessarily think that there is a creator who:

    (1) wants you to worship him or learn about him with accuracy?
Maybe he made life and he allows it to do what it wants.
    (2) is good or evil. Perhaps he is indifferent.
    (3) has the ability to stop the evils upon us? Perhaps he was able
to make life, but not guide or control it. The evil is from the creation.

I say, if there is a god who wants me to worship him a certain way or do
certain things with my life, HE WILL tell me what he wants. It will be
much clearer than the message that I was tricked to believe by WTS was.

If any religion has it right, I doubt that I will just accidentily choose the
right one, I tried that once. Most religions teach the idea that God is
understanding and forgiving. He will understand that you tried to be good,
and never found the one true religion thanks to those DUBS.

The meaning of life is to serve Jehovah as outlined by the Watchtower Society, don't you know! (NOT)

Why (according to the bible) are we dealing with problems from our ancestors from thousands of years ago?

The book of Genesis is merely an attempt to help explain the problems of life. It reads like mythology, and it probably is.

What is the point to anything to do with life?!

The point of living is to accomplish and enjoy what you want, and to help others to the extent you are able. When the Watchtower imposes its reasoning that its purpose is to serve God in association with an organization, it eliminates you as a meaningful, thoughtful individual and puts you in a mass of humanity.

    What happens after you die!?

Either nothing, or something. If something, we'll find out. Nobody can be sure in this life. We have to make the most out of our life now, because of the uncertainty as to whether there actually is something next.

This is all getting me really confused and im sure im not the only one....

For sure you're not the only one!

    Sam, you are wise.

    what do i do now?

I suggest you take a closer look at what's going on here. Clearly see that words, thoughts and beliefs about your Source, are not working for you. Mental constructs will never give you the reality you seek, be they past concepts or new.

Discover what is real. Begin by earnestly investigating into everything you believe yourself to be. Realize the truth of your own being, and all the rest will fall into place.
