That whoever is able to write

everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.

is also (supposedly) able to write

Everyone who does not abide in the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God; whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. Do not receive into the house or welcome anyone who comes to you and does not bring this teaching; for to welcome is to participate in the evil deeds of such a person.

    this I find really sad.

Things to keep in mind about God.

1.He is not only the richest guy in town; he's the richest guy in any town anyplace.

    2.He never gets sick.

3.He'll never get old in the sense of aging, losing his hair, teeth, having prostate problems, etc.

4.God doesn't have to worry about what he'll eat or gaining weight.

5.God doesn't have to buy toilet paper.

6.God makes all the rules and doesn't have to obey anybody else's.

    7.God is spoiled rotten.

8.God is not only spoiled rotten he is giving humans the silent treatment.

9.The history of God's dealings with humans is worst than the history of any despot in history because he slaughters humans by the billions!

10.With the power to actually do anything that comes into His mind he choses to pout and cajole and make threats and plead and never really get his point across.

11.God is an under-achiever. He hasn't lived up to his potential. Plus, he lets Satan run around loose getting into the garbage cans and pooping on the floor.

What we need is a God whisperer to straighten him out!

So, Pleeeeeeease--don't expect me to feel sorry for this character in the sky who can't get His royal act together.

Maybe this is a little of the beaten track of the millions God & the Israelites killed (which is certainly sad)...but here I was watching History Channel on the "forbidden books of the bible" and "legend of the angels" before work this morning.

Two things stood out - and both are very sad, to me at least.

    1. Apostle Paul's msyogeny. One reference I had forgotten was the "head covering" for women. The reason? So that the angels would not see their long hair and get a buzz. Women who did not wear it were trying to "seduce" the angles. WTF??? I thought the fallen Angels were somehow prevented from coming back down and having sex with women after the flood, according to WTBTS literature. Of course, WTBTS still teaches that demons can come and give the sisters a ghostly feel in the night if they do not scream out "Jehovah"...and of course Paul's writings are absolutely full of contempt for women and marraige in general.

    2. The apocraphyl books and their unique weirdness. A few little gems: Enoch celebrates such things as divination and astrology. An early reference to Jesus as a preteen claims he killed a playmate, either by purpose or accident. Some texts say his mother punished him, so he raised the other kid from the dead. Yikes! - shades of the "bad seed". Then, there is "gospel of Judas", where Judas was really a pretty nice guy, and Jesus talked him into the betrayal himself. Now, lest we think that this is latterday demonology, it is historically established that these books date from early 1st and 2nd century and are every bit as "authentic" in a historical sense as the other bible texts. For example, at least 11 such texts were found along with the dead sea scrolls. They were just not canonical according to the much later Catholic council - but they were highly popular in early Christianity, at least according to many historians. Many wonder how Revelation ever made the cut!

The twist given by the Watchtower boys is that the angels are to be "reminded" of their own "head", Jesus by observing the women's covered head!

The entire structure of demonology in Witnessland came to the fore when the popularity of THE EXORCIST drummed up interest on the part of the public. JW's found a way to buy in to the FEAR of demons and make it a part of their own mythology.

The JW religion changed significantly during that time. It has never recovered.

Is this the same 'god' that had women and children - even babies killed - just because they weren't Israelites?

In many accounts in the bible God allowed the israelites to keep the virgins and take them home with them. How convenient and loving

the verse that really gives me sad feeling is the one that starts out, "In the beginning..." and basically the ones that follow.

seriously, "the day of one's death is better than the day of his birth." that one is a real downer.

    And I thought the dead, who have already died, more fortunate than the living, who are still alive;
but better than both is the one who has not yet been, and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.
