    Interesting, MG.

I'd like to hear more about your view on the "cleansing" of the earth and liberation of people. Are there prominent writers/theologians who advocate this particlar view?

As for the question, "Who will they rule over"?

JWs believe that the intent of the whole end times business is to restore the things to the pre-Fall state.

In that state, Adam and his offspring were to rule the earth and every creature in it. There didn't seem to be an issue with humans being rulers back then, with no provision for a lower class of humans to rule over.

Wow....I didnt realize there were so many different ideas, all up for personal interpretation !!!

This is im sure why so many people get involved with the WT, its because they have very simple answers to very complicated questions. All in a neat little package that is very plausible, when you have no idea what the bible says.

This sort of thing makes me think there is no truth in the bible..............why would a loving God make it so difficult for ordinary people to understand....................if his believers dont

Or the churches are letting pepps down by not understanding or agreeing on a fundermental teaching as the second comming

If our very lives now and eternal are dependent on knowing if its true or not.............then this is vital, is it???????

I usually end up with my head in hand when I post to these sorts of topics - but here I go.

I believe that the entire problem is trying to understand too much. How many times did the disciples just not 'get it' even in the presence of the Lord himself?

I believe the entire focus should be on Jesus as our Saviour. Anything in excess of this allows room for the diverse confusion set forth in the previous posts. Certainly the scriptures point to 'everlasting life' as a hope. Beyond that I don't know the details. What matters the details?

I now retire to the sidelines to be duly whipped.

    hi Jeff

So why is it included in the bible, if it only muddies the water?

Im in transition here, I have always wanted to "believe" im just finding it more and more difficult to.

I think if I aint got it by now I never will ................

"I believe the entire focus should be on Jesus as our Saviour. Anything in excess of this allows room for the diverse confusion set forth in the previous posts."

With all due respect, Jeff, if you believe in a loving, all knowing creator, does it logically follow that he would deliberately present confusing, inpenetrable "mysteries" to his worshippers? Is clarity not the ultimate mark of intelligence? Would a "loving" deity transmit a muddled, enigmatic message to those he desired to save from eternal damnation?

Why would any logical person respect or even desire to worship a being so hopelessly incapable of transmitting a simple, straightforward message?

I find it disturbing in the extreme that you refer to the previous posts as "diverse confusion" when they are simply the products of the human mind attempting to make sense out of the garbled, jabberwocky posing as "revealed truth" in the bible. Does this REALLY make sense to you???

My point? Simply, don't be so eager to dismiss the tapestry of common belief, just because excerpts of it aren't to your taste

I dismiss myself from it and try hard (and fail often) to not denigrate the choice of others.

This is difficult to do because of the smirking certainty which creeps in when epiphany-laden believers begin to intone their convictions. You see, it reminds me so much of myself when I was in the grip of absolute certainty about Jehovah's matchstick kingdom and it embarasses me. Sometimes I lash out. It is at myself then whom I cannot reach, of course. So, forgive the creepy vehemence in my syntax when it seems all too personally directed outward.

So, everybody gets to pick up their plate and move down the buffet line and pick and choose they're favorite meal.

It is the best meal possible, of course, because it suits their tastes to a "T".

But, it has little to do with any fact.

Some fella had a rant in the year 98 c.e. (or so) and that got picked up and obsessed about wrongly repeatedly for not just a few years. It went on (and goes on) decades, centuries and millennia. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Beasts and angels and swords and scorpions and demons and God and.........it is just a bedtime story by a an early Stephen King.

    When we all grow up???

One of my pet theories is that parts of the Bible are there to make us think about the question, rather than give us the answers. God wants thinking humans, not robots; that's only what the old guys in brooklyn want.
