I believe that Jesus might have been a man trying to preach a new idea, that only love was necessary....sorta like the Beatles "All you need is love", or maybe he was a radical trying to empower his people to overtake the Romans....We will never know the total truth. He never professed to be the son of god, he just didn't dispute it....or so it says in the bible. If you go to this website www.jesusneverexisted.com and read the material on there, and still believe Jesus is who you now think he is, then my freind by all means keep on keeping on....check it out if you dare.

Probably the best thing to do would be to ask Jesus Himself.

If you have doubts about whether or not Jesus does exist, what would it hurt to just ask Him who He is, then wait for an answer.

I know the Lord, and am not the only one. If you ask most christians whether or not they know Jesus, then most of them will probably say things like "I had hepititis C and He healed it (which happened to me)," or "I have heard His voice," or "He shows me things all the time."

There are so many people who know Jesus that to consider that they are all crazy or misinformed would be silly. But again, if you really want to know who He is, even though you may feel awkward, why not ask Him anyways. If you're right, then you haven't lost anything, but if you're wroung, you may lose everything.

Oh by the way, for all those who believe the bible, Jesus did speak to Paul after He went to heaven, and also to John, so please don't rule out Him speaking to you.

So you came to this board merely to evangelise folks who are in a vulnerable state after leaving a cult?

You've offered nothing of your own background - kindly elaborate...

I took your advice and asked Jesus to talk to me, and he did!

I asked him if he cured you of Hep-C and he said No. Then I asked him why would soulfinder lie? He said because he's been fooled by the Devil. So maybe the Jesus that I'm talking with is a different one than the one your talking with?

Jesus was a Jew. Jesus practiced the Law, he was in the same game as the Pharisees and Sadducees (the people he condemned so many times) he also "fulfilled" the Law. Point being: Jesus agreed with everything the Law stood for and said -- down to the letter. Jesus condoned the Law and upheld it. Did you know that in the Mosaic Law that slavery was okay? You could beat a slave to unconsciousness, so long as he/she didn't die, and you would go unpunished because the slave is your property. (Ex. 21:20&21) Women had no rights, there were rules on how you should sell your daughters as sexual slaves. Jesus stood for those things according to the bible writers. (Ex. 21:2-7) The Law, in the scriptures just referenced, also allowed a slave owner to use the slaves marriage mate and children as leverage for his enslavement for life. If the slave fell in love with someone and wanted to remain in love, the Law states that they must remain a slave to keep that love. Greed and trickery my friends. Jesus was part of this.

Welcome soulfinder and I hope you find forum informative and enjoyable to speak your thoughts and feeling from your heart. Jesus is Lord and the most underrated person in the Org, they focus too much on self and works, they serve a God who cannot be satisfied and over look our Lord and Master, He is the key figure to our salvation, our exemplar, our Mediator, our King, our Ransomer, our Judge, our High Priest, he is God's mean of reconciliation.

    Morocco:
While the law permitted the things that you state, they weren't obligatory. Your attempt to paint the bible Jesus as a manipulating slave-trader is disingenuous at best...

LittleToe: No offense, and none taken but I'm not saying Jesus was a slave trader. But Jesus never said it was wrong to beat slaves or suppress women. In fact some of Jesus own followers kept it going (1 Cor. 14:34) “women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. “ It goes without saying that what the Law allows isn't mandatory to perform. But why allow it? So adultery is a no-no, but I can own slaves AND beat them if I choose? I thought God hated violence -- oh, but not with slaves. I merely pointed out that it was okay, in their time, to perform acts atrocious by todays standards. It is the laws of God that are disingenuous. The “Laws” men have put in God's mouth.
