    I suspect you have it right - she was showing some level of arrogance, or class-distinction. Plus she obviously was more interested in flirting with the guy behind you than doing her job. Is there such a thing as predudice among the sista's over 'shade's o' color'?

    Likely she was just a bitch.

    so your cashier friend who is of darker skin could likely come from Africa, Burkina Faso, Niger , Kenya, Senegal, or other nations,

    Could say the same of my mother who is darker than me. My father is much lighter just like the rest of his family. Sad thing is my father's family didn't want him to marry my mother because she was too dark. This was back in the 60's. One hopes that those kind of attitudes have faded away.

    fair points , but prejudice of the lightness of ones skin within the African/Caribbean community is alive and well here
