Let it rip, or hold my tongue? What would you do?

In my opinion, I feel you should enjoy reminiscing and hold off on the JW stuff. I would be kind about it too when it did come up. Remember the saying, "You can win the battle, but lose the war." If you come on strong he's going to pull away. So then what was accomplished? That's the bottom line here. What end result would you like to see? And what is the best way to get there.

Remember what your mindset was while in. Wouldn't you have put up your guard when someone spoke against the organization? I know I would have.

Edited to add: Sounds like we're both on the same page after I read your latest response.

Well my meeting with my friend has been put off until next week. His little girl is very sick with strep throat and he's had to stay home from school with her. He wanted to get together this weekend, but I'm flying off to San Jose. So now we're set for next Wednesday. I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE: Well it would appear that my friend has decided it best not to meet with me. I called him the day before we were to meet; no return call. The day of the meet; still no call back. It's now been a couple of weeks, and "nada."

I feel pretty sure someone has convinced him not to see me. If I were in this position, I would at least have the kahones to let the other person know. But I'd have to say "avoidance" always was his style.

Well that's sure disappointing. But you know how pulled active witnesses can be. You can't force them to behave normally if their not ready.

I think you'll probably hear from him again. It might be a couple of years but you'll hear from him when he's ready.

Have you been able to make other friends in your new neighborhood?

    -Aude.

Hi Aude... Nope, no new friends. I'm still flying out every weekend; so that time with my co-workers has been the only actual social life I've had. It'd be nice if some Phoenicians held some meet-ups once in awhile, but (as was the case in California) most will probably want it to be on weekends.

Yeah, us regular-work people are funny like that. Not too many of us are up for a 5 hour roundtrip drive on a work night.

Then again, some of us are quite willing to take a day or an afternoon off to meet up with friends.

I sure hope you get to meet some people out there. If my brother still lived there... well, he doesn't so I guess it's a moot point.

    Take care!

    -Aude.

    I know I wouldn't be either!

Anyway, until such a time as my schedule allows me more of a social life, I'm thankful for what I have. My daughter is still with me for another six months; then off to whichever college accepts her for years 3 and 4. And I do have a pretty good time most weekends with my co-workers.

    Best,
