I have the Epson Stylus Photo RX620 and it is probably the WORST piece of crap printer I have ever owned!

The problem is with the print heads. They get clogged but cannot be removed! I have been through several sets of very expensive ink cartridges running the clean cycle, but the heads are STILL clogged.

No more ink-jets for me! From now on I will only buy laser printers... after you subtract the cost of ink cartridges, the laser printers cost LESS!

I hate Epsons as well. The printer decides it is out of ink long before the cartridge does as well.

I enjoy the Canon Pixma MP line. Just be careful not to buy generic/store brand cartridges...

We have an Epson Stylus Photo RX 500 and haven't had any problems with it. You should call the company and demand they exchange the printer for a new one. I agree with you though that in the long run, laser printers are the way to go.

I hear you. Nina's father once bought the kids an Epson printer. Biggest piece of crap I've ever seen.

I agree, and being a photographer, I've tried out many. The Canon Pixmas are the way to go for most consumers.

I started looking into color laser printers but I quickly found something VERY disturbing... color laser printers hide coded information on all printed pages so that any page you print can be traced back to you.

Apparently the US government has been able to persuade the printer companies to embed this information in all of their printers. I wonder what kind of thumb screws they used to get compliance.

    LOL.

i personally like piezo printheads. but they are high maintenance indeed.

the epson desktop printers are nothing to write home about. but the wide format ones are. but again, high maintenance.

are you using the ultrachrome inks? there are lots of inkjet companies giving epson a run for their desktop money. if you prefer thermal printheads, go with HP imo.

Elsewhere, thanks for the humorous link!

Is it just the government that's out to get you from within your printer, or do you suffer from demon attacks, too?

There may be a connection. :-)

I had one and it quit working within a month. I never looked into what the problem was - I just went back to HP, which I have had no problem with. I love my Epson scanner, but the printer sucked.
