    Thanks for the info.

I read the article Paralipomenon cited- thanks!

I'd be interested if anyone has a scan of this wt (awake?) about the solar system.

About that article about the "quote" they put in the opening article... do they ever do anything other than extract out of date DISHONESTLY quoted statements???

...Same tired old tricks they used in the evolution/creation book. Don't they learn?

If I as a geologist were called upon to explain briefly our modern ideas of the origin of the earth and the development of life on it to a simple, pastoral people, such as the tribes to whom the Book of Genesis was addressed, I could hardly do better than follow rather closely much of the language of the first chapter of Genesis - Geologist Wallace Pratt.

Hmm - How I so remember these convincing and powerful endorsements by leading scientists.

Surely the WTS at its patronising best?

I don't know if it's really patronizing but it's certainly misleading. That quote was taken from 1928. A good retort to this is mention the time frame that this quote was uttered and then give another quote from Wallace Pratt which was I believe in the next paragraph:

"No scientific theory is sacro-sanct. Somebody has said that the great glory of science is that its truths of today are its absurdities of tomorrow. And that is so. New facts always inspire scientists to devise new hypotheses and to demolish old ones. " Geologist - Wallace Pratt

If they're going to try to disprove Evolution, maybe they should read more rescent Intelligent Design literature. Or quote from Darwin on Trial, at least that book makes relevant arguments.

Well, they do have Michael Behe, Intelligent Design's darling, on their latest Awake on evolution. But even he believes in evolution ("macro"-evolution) and that humans came from a common ancestor along with other primates etc.

I didn't realize the quote was THAT old though! Jeez, if they are going to quote information from 1928 as current and factual why don't they start laying out geological quotes that are pre-tectonic plate theory (1965)???

    MORONS!!

Gone are the days when we had to mindlessly swallow false or ancient quotes as accurate. Now all one has to do is goggle the name.

Funnily enough after I posted I was inspired to do just that. I noted Alan F's book review of Is There a Creator Who Cares About You? and how it focuses on the Society's use of his quotes as an example of its contextual dishonesty.

Clam you took me back with that quote. I remember when that book came out and this sister in my hall, who that year found out she was anointed, was talking about the dynamic energy and she made the statment that angels power are manifested thru black holes. yes she said that black holes were angels manifesting their power. Its scary what a lil bit of science and a whole lot of B.S. can create.

I don't think any person knows the mystery of the universe and one quote is about as good as any other. Some sound more believable than others but no one knows how it all originated or why? Life remains a mystery to me.

    Clam you said:

Having a read just now I noted an article Our Unique Solar System How it Got Here. In the article I noticed a quote "

Thanks for sharing that quote, the funny thing is that it clearly shows that only an ignorant and uneducated people would believe the Genesis account literally. The WTS just does not even think before they add such comments. So basically only the uneducated and ignorant are going to believe the simplistic creation story. LOL What does that say about their followers who believe the word of God literally.

I can see my grandson running to the door when he is 6 and doing the same thing your son did. Children are so trusting. The publisher should have never encouraged the child to open the screen door if you have one to take the magazines. But if he just opened to door with nothing between them then handing the magazines to him was appropriate and would hopefully quite the fears of the parent that nothing dangerous was intended. I know how it is controlling little ones. Aren't they fun?

I would never let a 6-year-old answer the door, especially if the people are complete strangers to them. I would have them come get me without opening the door. Too many weirdos in the world today. A boy was just snatched from a bus stop the other day.

I never left anything with a child and would tell them never to open the door to strangers. I stopped asking them to get mommy and daddy because too often they woke up their parents.

As a Jehovahs Witness I met many little ones running to answer the door.I always said "will you go get Mummy,Daddy,or Nanny!!!" One never knows if the child is alone...I cannot understand a JW just handing them to a child. I think the JW erred...
