LOTS of 'em. More than I realized, in fact.

A jerk of a cousin told me when I was 5 yo and needed to use my g/g/mother's outhouse during a visit (at night) that there was a great big tarantula on the seat, but to go on out there, because there was still room for me. - Arachniphobia

I climbed a 3 story oak tree when I was barely past toddler-hood and froze and screamed bloody murder when I looked down. My mother had to climb up and pry me loose from the twigs (in the top of the tree) and carry me back down piggy-back. Boy, was she pissed!! - Hypsophobia

I was sexually accosted by various step-family members when I was a child. Their attacks always occurred during family get-togethers in a dark hallway or at night while I was in bed. - Achluophobia, Androphobia, Aphephobia and Demophobia or Ochlophobia

I received dental "care" when I was a child from a big fat guy with HUGE fat fingers, a big fat cigar that dribbled ashes on his victims patients and a drill like a jackhammer. - Dentophobia

My words and ideas were always and heavily criticized by my immediate family members as I grew up. - Glossophobia

While I do in my heart absolutely know that I have a great deal of crafting talent, I always hesitate, procrastinate and find excuses (to myself) or ways to avoid cashing in on this talent. I don't know where this one came from (maybe due to the reasons for my glossophobia?) I'm trying very hard to overcome this one. Kakorrhaphiphobia

Oh yes! I have had a life-long phobia of pictures of a certain particular animal. (I won't name it because you lot will just post a pic to terrify me ) It's an animal everyone is supposed to love. Anyway, this particular animal appears on TV quite a lot recently so I often get freaked while channel hopping. I just wish they'd stop showing it!!!!!!

I still have some lingering "picture" phobias, but those aren't as bad. Why do I have them? I was pretty autistic as a child and I suffered from sensory overloads a lot, and if I was startled while looking at a picture, or if I surprised myself by looking at a strange picture too quickly, the shock and fright would transfer to the picture itself, and looking at a similar picture recalls the memory of the shock to my senses. The funny thing is that I usually have no problem seeing the thing represented in the picture in real life. There have been times in which I see them in real life, I take pictures of them, and then I could no longer look at the picture even though I saw the thing in real life with no problem. It's psychologically the picture itself that provokes the anxiety response. Weird, huh?

LOL! Yeah, you might want to take the theoretical approach to this one...

LMAO. Yea, you're right; sounds silly actually considering the subject

Still, I don't plan on going exploring in caves or considering a career in mining though :-)

I used to have really bad calsutrophobia, i havent been in an enclosed space for a long time (i got stuck, and left in a suitcase as a child and that started that phobia big time - i was playing, no one put me inside it)

In a word, I suppose this would define the fear. I had a similar experience as a young kid where I was locked in a trash container by some "hoods". I remember the fear being more intense when I was young. I don't have a particular problem with crawlspaces and the like now so I guess it's not so bad,.....;-)

    I am afraid of spiders,

In Florida, we use to get these spiders, and the legs were really thick and long........and they could jump really far and fast...........sick

Yep, this is what we have. They are huge, the size of your hand. Jump is not the word, its more like leap.....feet at a time.

I have never had one in this house, but in our previous home there were two in my sons bed. You can see them from quite a distance.

One day I was cleaning and I saw what I thought was a golf ball in the hallway. As I came within 10 feet I saw it was one of these spiders with an egg sack. She raced into the white tiled bathroom and I ran for the Raid.. She was easy to spot and I used the whole can on her and myself. She died but babies ran everywhere.

I thought I was going to have a nerveous break down. They eventually all collapsed from the fumes. I had to call my uncle in to get rid of the body. When he opened the bathroom door.....he shreaked at the (dead) size.

I always watch the ceilings and walls......with vigilence!

My dad broke his hip and died 3 months later because of trying to kill one of these monsters.(long story short!)

No demon dreams compare to the real life scare of these hunting spiders in Florida.

    r. (and the cockroaches aren't any better)

I think the most original award goes to MAMA 1119...for her mouse in water pipe phobia!

That's a new one on me...and I could easily picture it as my JW-MIL had a well on her farm and it always had gritty stuff in it.I asked her if it had ever been tested and she said No. Why should I ? ...It's pure water from the well....

Snoozy..who has run over many frogs and snakes in her grass cutting career ...those doggone frogs would hop all over when my riding lawn mower would get cranked up!..

ps..that reminds me of a ride hubby and I took down by the river one night..The river had went over it's banks and they closed the floodgates.Well we took a ride to check it out. It was dark and our headlights were bright on the road. All of a sudden all these frogs came out of nowhere!..Then we heard all these popping noises..we couldn't help but pulverize them Frogs hopping everywhere and anyways..trying to escape..hundreds if not thousands of frogs all over the road.. Pop..Pop...Pop...I can still hear it now..

OOPS...forgot to mention one of my many phobias...Bridges..I have this fear of wrecking and going in the water...

Did I mention I was stuck in the middle of a long bridge a few weeks ago? They had a wreck at the end of it and traffic just stopped on the bridge..I was terrified..caught in the middle for an hour..called my daughter and she talked to me for a long time..that helped a lot. I could just see the bridge being overloaded ( it was really shaking from all the semis going in the opposite direction.) and we all go in the drink!...What a time to run out of Zanex... But I survived.. (But still hate them)When I used to pick up my grandkids I had to go over a bridge..to cover my fear we would play a game..we would hold our breath until we got to the other side..They loved it and it took my mind off my fear...

    Snoozy...

...Bridges..I have this fear of wrecking and going in the water...

That is another one of my fears....I absolutely panic traveling over water or traveling roads close to lakes. I don't know why. I have learned that if you do go over to let the car fill up with water before you try to escape.....one of my greatest fears. Also if you have electronic locks, unlock before you go under because the system fries and you would permenantly be locked in.

Don't know that I could keep that cool of head to think this out as it happens.

I also panic in overstuffed elevators, or in crowds overstuffed into seats. (LIke Assemblys and Kingdom halls)

I have hard time in movie theaters, stadiums, sports events etc.

    I tend to avoid all.
