Anything which does not possess identity does not exist. Only things which exist do.

A grandiose claim pontificated does not a truth make.

Falsify my sentence by giving a contrary example of something which exists that does not possess identity.

In the abcense of believing in something outside of ourselves that is more powerful and meaningful, we essentially become the most powerful being in our universe and all thought and consciesness is reserved for the intense study of ourselves and that which will benefit us.

Religion and modern philosophy have won. Man has been told he is weak, ineffectual and confused and needy. He believes it to be true and doesn't recognize his power. By disabling man's conscious realization of his power to shape his own world he falls prey to parasites who use him for their own ends.

Until and unless we understand who we are and why we exist we cannot attempt to do much more than whatever we are told we need to do by others pulling our strings.

Go peek inside your local Kingdom Hall for a glimpse of what happens when people give up on their own powers of cognition and individuality.

i don't define spirituality as supernatural. i am not convinced there is a need to. i see humans as endowed with all the tools for a spiritual life at birth, by nature. our brains produce the strongest psychedelic substance known to man, dimetheltryptamine. DMT can also be extracted from many plants, and has been used as a spiritual sacrament by south american shamans for millenia. DMT has been implicated in OBE, NDE and other types of "pan-dimensional" spiritual experiences. if anyone is interested in more information about DMT, the pineal gland and spirituality/expansion of consciousness, here are some links:

i do define spirituality as expansion of consciousness. evolution of psychological and philosophical concepts. the art of being. comunion with nature. a benevolent acceptance of my history. the beatitude of reason.

i also approach cannabis sativa as a sacrament. i personally think that it has played a fairly large role in the evolution of human spirituality over the last several millenia. for me, cannabis + spinoza =

A more pervasive and equally crippling disease is the obsession with oneself. You can spend a lifetime contemplating your navel and miss all of the wonderful things that makes life so rich.

Maybe a better way to put it.....you can think about living life, or you can actually live life. There is a difference. Sometimes just doing is better than sitting around and thinking about doing.

I completely seperate spirituality with religion. (not a JW)

I am interested to know Terry why you think you are here; why you exist and what you consider your relationship with the rest of mankind is?

And how do you define such an examination?

    Genuinely curious

I think people use spirituality (and discussions about it) as a form of masturbation.

So, while I was going to say I don't have a spiritual side... :-D

Whatever else you say about spirituality, it sure brings out the shallow side of people. There is no such thing as a deep spiritual discussion (except for those incredibly profound ones you have had, gentle reader ;), but only because you really worked it all out).

    Bonobos got nuthin' on us.

Spiritual: God-oriented. Side: edge (as of a triangle); someone's team (as in sports or debating). Jehovah and Satan are still fighting over which side I'm on, and who has the edge. I don't know what the score is right now, but I know that Satan's side won't win, because they die by Jehovah's fire. That's why we have to build with fire-resistant materials: faith, accurate Bible knowledge, etc.
