I don't think this is shaping up to it (war) in fact I think this is great news. Religion should never be in school except as part of cultural studies, history or maybe as a part of philosophy. To remove religion and all its pervasiveness from the public arena is a fantastic. If religious people cannot see that this is actually an important step that will preserve their beliefs better than trying to justify it in the public domain then they have the wrong idea of how to defend their personal convictions IMO. If religion is not removed from school then we will hit a tipping point where it actually becomes a war on religion as more people who are irreligious get annoyed by the minority. Religious based 'war' or disagreement is rarely useful and all too often extreme.
As a religious person I'm very happy that my beliefs will be taught in my home and at Sunday School at church and not in a public school. I'd personally be horrified to see Books of Mormon at school though I'd accept quotes in a religious education class that was discussing history and belief structures. The burkha, turban, cross, skull cap are overt symbols of separation and division. Get them out of schools - and while we are at it maybe the nativity and other religious festivals should go to. If people really care about their beliefs then they can start attending their churches more often and stop foisting beliefs on other people's children.
War on religion will be caused by religious people's intolerance IMO causing a backlash in sensible opinion.
War on religion some day?

Welcome to the forum, Spirit Axal .
"what would Jesus do"
Imagine what it would be like not placing attention and energy on abstract beliefs, deities and make-believe drama within the minds imagination, and instead placing attention on the wondrous and glorious REALITY of life and existence in and around you. Jesus would very likely do that.

but other people's right not to have those beliefs foisted on them receives equal protection. That way, only a small-minded self-involved bigoted moron could have any cause for complaint.
You mean like when someone tries to bring anything other than Atheism into the science class.

Why would you want deities, demons, angels, devils, and other mythological creatures and stories taught in a science class?

Deputy, I do not mean to be offensive, but why limit God to the little character in the Bible? Why not expand him that he include evolution and science. Why subtract rather than augment?
It seems to me disrespectful to reduce in any way the Source of an infinite universe. But then, I'm not a Christian.

The reason I thought of what I said was because people who do not believe in a high power have their freedom of speech to say theres no God and cuss infront of someone who does believe, yet if a believer speaks about ANYTHING the believer will most likely be expelled while the ones who make jokes about jesus and cuss and do whatever they want get to sit down and laugh. They removed religion from schools but have not removed the vulgar mouth. You have even teachers who use bad language "only if there is just a small group of teenagers in the room" I went to a vocational school and i herd this girl talking about her problems and stuff and said If there was a god he would help her and she said nobody helped her so theres no god. but when I spoke that there IS a god, I was suspended for 5 days for saying "there is a god" while she sat back and laughed and made comments while I was suspended because my close friends told me, I told the principle at the voc school and had witnesses to verify what she done, I got detention for making "false" accusations, while my friends were told to get back to class. I have a lot of anger torwards people like this who think they can tell me theres no God and they dont get in trouble and when I say there is, im in big twubble. So ive pretty much lost all love for people like that girl and that principle. But hey, that was when i was in high school, I do nothing now.

Dear Spirit, some of what you perceive as people who believe in "no God", is actually people who find it difficult to accept the deity found within the pages of the Bible as the true source of such a beautiful and wonderful universe. They may not know what God is, but they know that the Bible's anthropomorphic tribal deity, ain't it. Sometimes it's better not to hold any beliefs at all, than to believe in something that may actually be disrespectful.
It may benefit you to stop carrying the heavy load of hate for people who do not believe as you. We're all fools.

No you got it all wrong man. I dont hate people who dont believe as I do, I hate people who say " I dont want to hear about God" and then turn around and they start saying there is no God when I dont want to hear what they have to say if they dont wanna hear what I have to say. I dont hate them because they dont believe in high power, I hate because they are hypocrits when they dont want to listen, yet they want you to listen to what they have to say
Just to give a more detail on it "Hey do you believe in god?" "No, i dont want to talk about that crap" then the person says, "Did you know if God is God he could stop you from falling but he wont" So its not fair for me, but its fair for them to start bashing when all i asked if they believed in God and didnt wanna hear it from me yet they wanted me to hear what they had to say, only it was bashing
