Much respect to all of the above posters on this thread. Are some of us perhaps taking the word "demonize" a little too literally?
Don't mind me. I'll shut up.

Much respect to all of the above posters on this thread. Are some of us perhaps taking the word "demonize" a little too literally?
Don't mind me. I'll shut up.
An Elder in my congregation, big shot at Bethel, 30 years at Bethel, told the story of the time when he and his wife were pioneering that they could feel the Demons doing a two-step on their shoulders at one particular study and they made a fast exit. They believed that the demonize were out there in the field service.
Blueblades
Not just the JWs do this. I just saw Gloria Copeland say that bad weather, hurricane Katrina, and tornadoes are caused by demons. She was leading a "Healing School" in Florida when a tornado struck and she rebuked satan and called upon Jesus. Well, the tornado stopped! Naturally, that's proof!
"Demonize"---to represent as evil or diabolic".
If a person does get a blood transfusion and dies----then they are shown to deserve death because they should've abstained from blood. Even if they did die , at least they would've been assured a ressurection if they had refuse a transfusion.
using the word "demonize" a little more broadly :

w8212/1p.3SoapOperas—HowTheyCanAffectYou"WHEN I started watching the television serials, or soap operas, I soon was absorbed in the lives of the characters," reported one Christian woman. "I became like part of their family. In time my heart was as much involved with these characters as it was with members of the Christian congregation."

MultipleArticles***"You think that it doesn’t bother you," said one Christian woman who was a regular viewer of soap operas for years. "But in the deep part of your heart you are accepting the wrongdoing. You see things that you want. And if your husband isn’t as affectionate as those you see on the soap operas, you feel that something is missing."
This Christian woman who had developed an appetite for these TV soap operas let her guard down to the extent of committing immorality. She was immediately cut to the heart and eventually gained the forgiveness of her husband and the congregation. But what an emotional scar! "Everything was fine until the circumstances made it possible to indulge in what I had stored in my heart," she admitted. "Satan set a trap and I walked right into it. Do not be fooled, soaps can affect you. I hear some say that they are strong enough to handle them. Well, time will tell." Even after this tragedy she found it difficult to stop viewing them. "It was worse than trying to stop smoking," she concluded.
Ah yes, the "soaps". From that point on, we had one dumb elder ask every sister who had a problem or was depressed or unhappy over ANYTHING--------"do you watch soap operas?" If they said "sometimes", this dumb elder would preach to them about the inherent evils and then explain that if they persisted they would be "greiving the holy spirit".
I remember that years ago the JWs published an issue of the Watchtower with a picture of Disney World on the cover. Seriously! I believe that the article was titled, "Are You Confusing Fantasy With Reality?"
I guess Mickey and Minnie Mouse were living in sin huh???
In general terms "demonize" may just mean to lump something in with badness, however the JWs (and many other fundy religions I might add) put a literal application on the word in almost all situations.
When I was a kid ALL mental illness was considered demon attack and going to a psychiatrist was expressly forbidden. I'm not sure if this was ever in print but it certainly was practiced. Today they have softened considerably at least in the publications but the R&F still believe that any type of psychosis or thought disorder is because of demon influence. I was lurking in a JW site once and was horrified to read a long conversation about one of the women's teenage son. From the way the mom described his behaviour it was obvious that the poor kid was suffereing from either severe bipolar disorder or the early stages of schizophrenia. Instead of encouraging the mom to get him treatment immediatley, they all (including his mother) just sat around talking about how his rock music CDs had caused him to get possessed by demons and he just needed to be yanked out in service and to more meetings. I sometimes wonder just how many JWs die every year due to undiagnosed and treated mental illness.
If you go to college you might be influenced to not believe in God any longer. Plus you might be tempted to become sexually immoral and commit fornication o (or worse yet, lesbianism).
BB guns, records, shirts even a silver coin from 1832. Everything I ever liked was thrown out cuz it was possessed.
