When I was a little tyke, going to kindergarten, I was told by my mom to remember these words:

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."

It served me well back then, and continues to throughout my life, to the present, and to my death.

    BA- Revolted by political correctness.

And I don't understand. How is my "heart bleeding for insults like a comedy"? Why does that make me "repugnant"?

Your ad hominem attacks, and your trying to get me kicked off the board for replying to a thread started about racism, and getting angry because I'm not saying what you want to hear.

I know you don't even believe that. If you can't apologize and acknowledge that what you said to another black woman was as bad as what you are condemning than I guess your mind is too filled with racist thoughts to be reasoned with. If you can't see the the obvious parallel of Imus getting fired for calling those young black ladies "nappy haired hoes" and you calling a black lady "house" n-word than you can't be reasoned with.

I didn't want you to make that slur, but I do think you should do a bit more than say "point taken" - but you would rather defend, justify and then deflect blame and ultimately insult me.

It's you who took issue with what I said to someone else and then decided to take up her cause and ride my ass. You're just so good. You're not apoligizing for your beliefs or statements, but you want me to apoligize for mine. I'm just not going to do that. You'll just have to live with it. I don't owe you an apology.

Ya know...no one ever got upset when Stevie Wonder sang:

    Looking back on when i
Was a little nappy headed boy
    Then my only worry
Was for christmas what would be my toy
    Even though we sometimes
    Would not get a thing
    We were happy with the
    Joy the day would bring

Back in those days we all called each other names, and no one could imagine how todays' political correctness would change the world for the worse.

    He was talking about himself.

But he used a name that people find offensive. Why didn't anyone who finds that offensive speak up and chastise Stevie for being insensitive? Especially since he's one of their own?

If you find a word or phrase offensive, then it's offensive no matter who says it, black, white, red or polka-dot. If it's okay for Dave Chappelle to say 'nigger' then it's okay for Michael Richards to say 'nigger'. If it's not okay for Michael Richards to say it then it's not okay for Dave Chappelle to say it. If it's okay for Stevie Wonder to say 'nappy headed' then it's okay for Don Imus to say 'nappy headed'. If Imus is wrong for using that term then so is anyone else who uses it.

To claim that it's okay for a black man to use those terms but its not okay for a white man to use them is being racist.

All I know is that I'm going out tonight and am listening to a great R&B group called Chicken Slacks.

For some strange reason it is more socially acceptable to demean oneself.
