A license is a privilege granted by a respective government. Gun ownership In the US it is a right bestowed to us by the founders of our country. In the US hunting, fishing, driving motor vehicles etc. is a privilege and thus requires a license to do so.

BrentR I appreciate your comment but I doubt that will somehow help grieving families to get over this, or families of those that are yet to die in future shootings. Perhaps there is a time to break with tradition, I doubt Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin had this in mind when they were drafting constitution.

It may come as a surprise to many of you there but in most other democratic countries of the world you need special license to even own a gun let alone carry it around among the public.
Not a surprise to me. One of the best ideas the founding fathers of the US had was the right to keep and bear arms. Now, if only more would do so, tragedies like this would have turned out much differently.

The police chief looks like he's going to have a nervous breakdown. I wish that they would give him a break and get another person to answer the questions. He said it was the worse thing that he had ever seen in his life. The man needs to be able to go sit down somewhere. Isn't there anyone else that they can grill?!

What actions are they taking at other colleges around the U.S. to prevent a copy cat killing? If any? Has anyone heard anything about this?

They just need to put a intercom system in all buildings! Announce the threat over the intercom. Not text message, unless the individual is deaf. Intercoms and walkie talkies in all classes!
