Fader. Went to the Memorial which was my first meeting since May 2006. The elders want to make a shepherding call on me, though.
It's cool. I don't mind.

Wow- I didn't check this thread for a few days. It sure is nice to not feel alone.
I just went "inactive" officially this month. I just quit meetings this month.
I am in good standing, otherwise. I could always go back and start
recruiting again, regaining the congregation elders' encouragement.
Yah, when:
Gary1914 That cracks me up. I use to make up hour the last year or so. I remember I would turn my time in for myself and have my kids and husband turn theirs in. Every now and then the elder who was in charge of keeping track would call me in like say September and say I am missing your hours for May and June I was wondering if you could tell me what they were. Like I remember what the heck I did 3 or 4 months ago. I got irritated because this would frequently happen. Towards the end, this brother came up to me at the meeting and asked me. I told him you've got to be kidding me. Do you think I remember what I did then. Why don't you just pick a number. Look at the time I turned in over the last 6 months and average it that sounds like a good number to me. He looked at me like I had told him to take a flying leap. Which in a sense what I told him to do.
am often called on to give an experience I've encountered in the field service. I have a number of them that I have thought up and written down to be used in an emergency
Gary 1914,
You rock! Do you keep a straight face when you'r giving those experiences

Read your remarks and totally cracked up!!! An elder who not only has a sense of humor, but is devious too. Too bad there aren't more like you in the ORG.
The funny thing is that I knew that a lot of elders (congregation servants in my day) totally fudged their numbers. One brother who was working trying to get to be one of the top three often reported 35-40 hours a month and 3 or 4 bookstudies. He'd always drop the rest of us off in a neighborhood and then leave to "run an errand," "swing by the KH," or "go visit a sick brother/sister." He' always get back about 10 minutes before we were to leave the territory and then sit in the car making notes.
We all knew what he was up to, but he was smart, gave a great public talk, and was fairly handsome. He also had a pretty wife and a couple of cute kids. Above all he loved to joke around and kept us laughing all the time. So we just let him be and never said anything about his sneaking off - although my Dad knew what he was up to, but never said anything. His attitude was that he could not judge the guy, only Jehovah could do that.
He finally made it to Ministry School Servant and was Book Study Conductor. I left before he went any higher.
I would have done the same, except that I wanted out - not up. So I just quit trying. Broke my parents' hearts 'cause they really wanted me to go to Gilead or Bethel. They didn't have a clue...
Yup! Just got back from KMS
I just wonder if there is anyone from Bethel on here - or if their internet access is too closely monitored?
It would be kind of cool to do kind of a "Boys from Brazil" type of thing where we recruited some folks to pretend to be totally faithful teenage Witnesses, coach them in all the tricks, etc. Then when they get to be about 30, have them declare as "Annointed" (replacements, of course) and get them assigned to HQ on the writing committee. By the time they were 50 they could maneuver themselves into the GB and hijack the damn religion.
Of course the problem there would be that the power and prestige would corrupt them and they would probably become as bad as the current bunch of rotten apples.
Any good standing JW posting here?
I'm sitting down - does that count?
Strangely , JWD helps my "spiritual standing" in the cong. I've discussed the May 1 QFR with a few in the cong & they have all been impressed with my knowledge of Watchtower articles and the development of WTS doctrines (all gleaned from this forum). My introduction is "What do you think of the new thought in the WT" to be met by a blank stare and a mumbled "Oh , I've been so busy - I haven't had time to read the mags yet!" (though they have been offering them in the ministry). One bro told me that he had missed the article and commended me for being a "spiritual type" that gets into these topics.
I'm in and considered to be in good standing.
Trying to be a true Christian while filtering out any man made traditions and rules. It works for me. I'd be the brother in the congregation that always talks about Jehovah and Jesus while constantly cracking open the Bible to encourage and upbuild others. You never hear me saying "FDS" or "Organization" in my conversations.
No wonder why many in the congregation say they feel refreshed when talking with me. The elders and the other hand can't get a hold on me.
True Christian freedom makes the elders nervous. Perhaps even jealous. Mind you, I was even appointed an elder, TWICE. I declined both times.
