A question: why should any of us care how any of this plays out, and why should it take precedence over our preoccupations over what's happeninf in Darfour, Somalia and the Middle East, etc., etc.? Does Baldwin and his self-obsessed hedonistic brood waste a nanosecond's concern about any of us? If not, why then should we?

For eons we have watched and examined the the lives of royals, leaders, movies stars, warriors, etc., and commented on them. This despite there always being the poor and catastrophes somewhere in the world. It's just who we are.

I'm not about to crucify Baldwin for what he said - I might not like it but I can certainly understand a parent 'losing' it like that and the frustration coming out. I don't believe he should lose his visitation - I believe that Kim Bassinger needs to be held accountable for taking a private message and getting it airplay. There is only one reason to do that. Revenge. This conversation could have been taken quietly up with the judges in the case but she chose to 'leak' it to the public to satisfy her own twisted desire to screw him. Not only does this mean nothing to us in our world, we shouldn't have heard it in the first place. His frustration in calling his daughter a 'selfish little pig' may not have been appropriate but for the kids mother to release personal messages of hers to the public to wage a continual war against her ex is worse. She's using her daughter to get back at her ex - and in the public eye. Pathetic. sammieswife.

This dismal display of the mediocrity of human nature and evidenced by Trial by Media is turning into something Caligula would blossom at the cheeks at not having thought of sooner. Pretty soon, in our quest for self-righteous exclusivity, we will be able to press a button on our keyboards and send 1000 volts through the latest hapless victim of their own fat mouths without even having to move our arses from our office chairs.

PS - Are there such a thing as twelve-year olds who are not selfish little pigs? Cue for doting parents to convince us all that their spawn are really quite special and that their childrens only desire is to die a hero in a leper colony.

Sorry, I feel Alec regrets what he said to his daughter on the phone, we do not know the entire situation, we really do not know what has set him off. He made a mistake, yes he has anger problems, issues period, but so does Kim. This just comes with the territory. Really, that little girl is really going to have issues because of both her parents! I am just saying we do not know the situation that made him call his daughter and leave that message. Was she playing both her parents? Who knows.

In spite of my earlier comment in this thread, if I were a family judge I would put the fear of god into Alec about this. But if this is a one off situation born out of frustration caused in part by dad's relationship with the mom, no way would I consider it reason to cut off, or even limit a father's time with his child.

lol.........sorry......that just has made me laugh.
The very worst thing about this voice message is that it is made public. I dont have many outburst but the last thing I would want is it taped and blasted all over the net and tv.

Well Kim has been saying for the last 7 years that this man is abusive, prone to outbursts of violence, but no one wanted to listen. Sorry he is an abuser, and he needs not to be with this child unless it is supervised.
We care because an 11 year old little girl is at risk, not only in a physical sense, but also an emotional one as well. Verbal abuse is just as damaging to a person as physical abuse, it destroys ones self-esteem and self-worth that can last a lifetime.

Yes he was wrong, incredibly so. Even if his court mandated time was missed, that was an issue to take up between attorney's, not with the daughter. But her mother is just as wrong for being willing to publicly embarass her daughter by airing private information, in an effort to get back at her ex. Seems to me that they are both lacking.
