    Hello everyone,

I need to know something and I need help finding out the Truth:

If I retired from military as pharmacist, before becoming a Witness and receive pension every month + benefits, is it contradictory with Witnesses not being part of military?

Should I give up my pension to be in tune and harmony with our beliefs?

Is my worship and sacrifice worthless and to be left at the altar and refused by Jehovah because I have accepted monies from military, even though I was NOT witness then?

Please back up with scriptures, thank U SO much!!!

    Best regards

Welcome to the Board. I am a former Elder and worked 10 years at Bethel Headquarters. I now realize that the Wactchtower does not represent the truth. If you got questions PM me.

DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR PENSIONS!!! DO NOT CONTRIBUTE $$$ TO THE WT.

I need to know something and I need help finding out the Truth:

So are you studying with the Witnesses at this point? What have you heard from the one conducting the study?

I grew up as a JW and saw some who had accumulated wealth before becoming a Witness, and they didn't have to give it up.

Wasn't the first Gentile convert to Christianity (Cornelius) an army officer? He was not a poor man. He didn't even have to step down from military service before Peter converted him.

Makes me wonder why the JW's say army personnel must become civilian before they qualify for baptism! Peter didn't recognize such a requirement.

You have no responsibility to anyone or anything to give up your hard earned pension for any reason. It is a part of your livelyhood, and likely necessary to your family as well.

That is my opinioin, and I can't provide any scriptural backing. In my opinion, no scriptural backing is needed for such a matter. It doesn't matter where the money came/continues to come from, you earned it. You pay taxes too, so consider it your tax dollars at work, paying you back for the hard work you put in. Best wishes.

Not trying to influence your decision. You better ask the witnesses what they think you
should do with that money. They might tell you to keep accepting it and donate all of it
    to them, or something else.

We could look up what you should do with the money and answer your question completely,
but you need to learn that they tell you what to do in every circumstance, not us.
They tell you how to live, not us. They tell you everything including how it's wrong to be
talking to us. If you believe them, then stop reading this moment, go confess.

Quote: "Is my worship and sacrifice worthless and to be left at the altar and refused by Jehovah because I have accepted monies from military, even though I was NOT witness then?"

I believe it is worthless, yes. You can still give the money back to the gods of this system of things, and if you can also humble yourself and be genuinely repentant, possibly you may come into Jah's favor.

Can you do that? Can you genuinely humble yourself?

no one brought it up, but i just thought of it.

My money is coming from same budget as weapons and such, the "Cornelius" item is interresting, thank U.

I could get a position as pharmacist, anytime, but out of convenience I'd rather not and pioneer and travel a lot.

I just feel odd lately, ever since that thought "hit me" i feel uneasy.

    Thank U for understanding input

    Regards

I know someone who started working for the Lockheed, the congregation disassociated him from the congregation. When he retired from Lockheed and he requested for reinstatement in the congregation. He got reinstated and he was receiving pensions til he died. You have no reason to give up your pensions, did they tell you to do that before you get baptized??

I might point out that you will likely be able to provide much more to the Kingdom work as a part-time pharmacist than a full-time pioneer.

    Consider also Matthew 2:21
